DIY Truck Bed Tool Holder // How to Make a Cheap & Easy Storage Rack for Shovels, etc // F-150 Ford
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Clean up your truck bed with a quick and easy DIY tool holder/organizer that can get those shovels and other long handled tools up off the bed floor and secured to an otherwise unused space. Using 4" PVC pipe, an angle grinder, cordless drill and zip ties, I create a very quick and efficient tool organizer in just 30 minutes. I put this in my 2015 Ford F-150 but the same concept will work in many other applications.
In this video I also mention how much I love having plenty of Sharpie markers and zip ties (or cable ties) in the shop. Stick around for some personal bonus footage at the end showcasing what I feel is the absolute best use of Sharpie markers that I have found.

I appreciate that Captain! That garage door is kinda my pride and joy!
I've spent a lot of time at the shop with a 6 pack of beer and a half eaten pizza reconstructing my entire work van setup just to add something new. It's a labor of love but man when it works it WORKS!
Art work is the best!
I have a "junk pile" like that too, been saved by the "pile" many times when I need that "one thing-a-ma-jobber" to make it work. You never know when you're gonna need it. I think maybe that's a Grandpa George gene. Common sense ingenuity at it's best.

Oh yeah. It's amazing how frequently I visit the junk pile, although I have multiple locations for junk other than that pile! As always thanks for watching Tony!

That’s me, too, we don’t have to buy much, just let it find us is my mantra!
Best Sharpie tip I've ever had my shop! You guys got to go to Harbor Freight and get the little bitty tiny magnets that are neodymium or whatever. They look like watch batteries there in a little plastic pill bottle looking thing. Super glue and all the Caps of your Sharpies and then just keep replacing the caps on the Sharpies. They stick to anything metal. I'm actually drop them on the ground and used a small piece of metal on my workbench to reach down and grab it without having to bend over and pick it up.

Whoa, that's a good idea. I can think of some other things I could stick to the walls in the shop as well. And, even better I could use some of those magnets in my shop office too. I don't think I utilize the use of magnets enough! Thanks for the idea. Maybe this concept will be a video some day! Take care.
This is exactly what I need for mine and my kids' hockey sticks. Thank you!!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing! Also love the garage door drawings!

Something so simple but man it has done the trick for me. And yes, I look forward to the next year's drawing installation every father's day. Thanks so much for watching.
Hey thanks for the idea. Was trying to figure out how to carry tools on my tractor rop without spending alot on items like ballast boxes. I tweaked your ideaZ Using pvc pipe i put holes in it, capped the bottom (drilled drain hole in bottom in case of rain) and zip tied the pipe to the rop, resting the bottom on the fender. Now i can carry a short shovel, tree clippers and my mini chain saw with me no problem. Again thanks!!!!
Brilliantly simple solution! Thanks!

Best thing in the shop!
Awesome idea on using the sides , I may try . I have some unused space under my side tool boxes. . I just love organizational stuff that makes the job easier. I have pick -up , with side tool boxes and ladder rack. Its a 4 door and the back seats fold down. The Home Depot Rigid rolling tool box fits perfectly and locks up in the back area and no sliding. I have a hitch and small open trailer with a ramp that I use for garbage and clean up at the end of a job. I am still looking for a set up where you clap your hands and all the tools go back organized in your truck 😂👺

The heavy duty velcro tape is another way to do this, attach to body with a self tapper and big washer and they give a great flexible way to attach things. It is the approach I used to store my high lift, bow saw, spade and axe in my Land Rover.

I actually have an old suburban that I let my daughter scratched and stuff into the hood I absolutely love this truck. But she scratched some stuff in the hood so we all started dress writing on the hood when I read you the truck I'm going to take the hood off and hang it in my shop. That's pretty cool man I like that idea.

Another good video. I think next time I would try clamping pipe down to the work table so you wouldn't have to hold it with your hand. That way you can use your other hand to sign the patent rights.
@digdrivediy

I thought you were gonna say clamp it down to stay safe. I like where your head is at though... I could patent a tool holder kit where I just sell the 6' stick of 4" PVC with a black Sharpie. Now you've got me thinking... Thanks Dad!

Just a suggestion, use a table saw to cut the pipe. You can raise the blade and set the guard at 5” and you’ll get a perfect cut

I appreciate the fact you mentioned the garage door as I do think that is pretty cool as well. I hope you were able to find something with your truck bed organization efforts. Thanks for watching and commenting! Take care.
the hole saw is bottoming out on the pvc so unless you plan to melt the top of the pipe away with the cut of the hole saw you will never be able to cut all the way through
