I second this. CNC routers are fine, for people who want to use them, but I’m interested in hand work, not what I can program a computer to do.

A branch, some paint and glue, and a buckload of skill. Who needs CNC ?! Well done.

I have no access to CNC machines so this was really helpful. Thanks and great job!

Great wood scales! I love that you did all the cutting, sanding, and shaping by hand- some of it with your Swiss Army Knife itself!

I've done a bunch of these in Hawaiian Koa, and I do mine by hand also (but a Dremel is a huge help). I usually skip the toothpick and tweezers, but you killed it. Great work!

I need to replace mine too. I put my SAK in boiling hot water which distorted the red plastic scales so I need to replace them. And I will likely avoid making the slits for the tweezers & tooth pick as well.

I have been looking for wooden Plus Scales for my 91mm Swisschamp, with no luck, after watching your video I believe I can make my own, really cool. gonna get some nice dark wood I'll try to make a stamp with the Victorinox shield and burn it into the wood too. Man you've given me ideas!!! Thanks!

This is almost exactly how I have been doing them, except a Dremel and belt sander help a lot. Also, I took a set of old scales and drilled out the holes for the pins all the way through and use it for my pattern so I can just stick a pencil through.

Wow you make it look so easy, but i know it's very hard!!! But one day I will try to do something like this!!!!

Germs? Wood is not a very hospitable medium for bacteria. Still, it would be good to seal the underside of the wood so water doesn’t warp it.
