DIY Subfloor Frame: From Mistakes to Masterpiece! | Ford Transit Camper Van Conversion Series [ 3 ]

Follow along as I self-build my own unique camper van inside a 2015 Ford Transit 350 Extended Cargo Van -- with no experience. ...and when I say "no experience," I mean ZERO EXPERIENCE! I have never done anything like this before, so I am learning as I go. I will make some mistakes, but that's okay.
Before starting this project, I did a TON of research on KZread, looking at the many ways to frame out my floor, but there were some things I wasn't clear on. I realized I needed to take the knowledge I have gained through research, and just get started, solving problems as I experienced them.
In this video, you will see me make a HUGE and almost project-ruining mistake. I didn't account for where the plywood seams would be, and I almost didn't create crossbeams where the slabs would meet.
Thank goodness I caught this in time to fix it, or I would have been really upset later. I would have finished gluing, insulating, and sealing everything before securing the plywood, and that would have led to my having to start over and buy all new materials!
I hope you enjoy this video and can remember what it was like to be new. Maybe this video will make you nostalgic for a time when you were in the midst of information overload and made an otherwise silly mistake :)
Tools I used:
Ryobi Circular Saw
Tape measure
Pencil
Thank you so much for watching!

I'm building a van out too right now. I'm installing furring strips in the same fashion. Cutting, opps, cutting some more. Opps, back to home depot for a few more pieces. "I'd rather waste a little wood and do it right." I get you.

Just found your channel subscriped and will be watching along through the full build to learn myself, Small suggestions do drawings of your plan and on the timber write a "X" on the waste side

Oh I like the "X" idea! Definitely more efficient than writing "cut". 😂 Thank you for that! And I've drawn out about a thousand full layout plans, lol, but I haven't really drawn plans for the smaller projects - so I'll try it out. It will definitely help me better visualize the final product. Especially for the electrical, which is my next big project (my vids are several projects behind). Thank you!!!

The best way to learn is exactly what you are doing. Try something and if it doesn't work figure out a way around it to make it work for you.

Wow, thank you! It's part of the whole adventure that this project is bringing, and I am loving it... even when i feel underprepared in the moment, it means that much more when I actually get it done. Thank you again for your kind words of encouragement. It means a lot :)
