    Awesome, simple build. Think I'll leave out a board on the short side to access the slide out tray without having to lift the whole cover.

    I don’t like people but unfortunately I have to gather tips and ideas from y’all since dogs can’t build furniture yet. Great build. The use of the brackets to brace the joints is a good idea.

    Great! Remember those pilot holes, if you're putting screws through those 2x2s. They split easy at the ends. Pocket holes are ideal if possible.

    🤯 Such a creative way to dress up a kennel so it's not such an eye sore in the room. I would love to give this a try but I'm not that good with tools. 😅

    How did you screw the vertical legs onto the horizontal base? Did you go in at a downward angle directly into the middle of the corner? Did the screw go into all three boards or just two of them? Hope that makes sense.

  • @wooddoofus

    @wooddoofus

    2 жыл бұрын

    That's a good question. I was rewatching and saw that I didn't mention the pocket holes. So I used a pocket hole connection with glue to attach the vertical legs between the top and the bottom. I think I also reenforced the joint with L brackets. The cheapest Kregg pocket hole jig is the R3 and goes for $30-$40 but I would think you could improvise with a 1/4 inch drill bit. Using it to make a shallow angled hole and inserting a 1 1/4" wood screw. Hope this helps!

    Good question. If I remember correctly, I was using 2x2s so set the colar on your bit to 1 1/2" and use 2" screws. That's what I would do now even if I did it differently then,🙂. Thanks for checking out the video!

    What is the size of this kennel and the measurements you used to do your cutouts?

  • @wooddoofus

    @wooddoofus

    2 жыл бұрын

    That's a good question.😬 I did this a while ago and can't remember any of the exact measurements. The wire kennel was a medium size used for a boxer. I based my cutting dimensions on the kennel my feeding provided. I just measured and cut. Sorry, I can't be more specific. I'll try to do better in the future with recording and sharing specs.

  • @wooddoofus

    @wooddoofus

    @@barbra429 I believe these tops were 1x4 common board that can be bought at home depot or Lowes. Common boards stains better than plywood and doesn't have the unsightly end grain. Just be sure to sand well before staining to get a good penetration.

    I guess a clearer statement would be that I choose not to be a dog owner bc I don't have the time it takes to manage them, and I can't stand being slobbered on. Sorry if that makes me awful. The boxer I made this for loves his kennel cover and he doesn't slobber on me when I visit. He's cool.😅
