As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

Clearly I'm biased, but this fire table turned out HOT!

A good tip I use when using a jigsaw is that IF I have enough surface I use clamps and a strait edge to give me a straight cut. (Just a friendly tip for jigsaw users).

Just a suggestion: Since you make videos often, it would be a good investment to purchase the anti-reflectant for your glasses because it will help your glasses not look weird when recording with studio light.

I notice you guys do projects on a budget sometimes And i seen Propane fire tables going for $1000 and more For having a portable FP that is nice looking I wanted a whole patio set with firepit but the cost of store bought was insane ! So i started a quest on DIY a whole patio on the cheap without looking cheap I started with picking up skids while coming to and from work > skids = free - Gas driving - free (2018 Chevy Volt ) Broke down the skids reused most nails and made 2 love seat size chairs Wanted cushions so i gave in my first bucks and bought 10 Burlap coffee bean bags with print ($5) surplus store Took a few old foam pieces and some extra ready made cushions and tucked them is together and sewn the 4 of them up Fire pit table stacked 4 skids on top of each other and found long self taping screws in my tool box Tied them together Next i wanted a round fire pit So i went to the dollar store and bought a 24 inch salad bowl with 1 1/2 " lip ($4) Placed it where i thought is was centred and on to one side of the table ran a marker around it and measured the 1 1/2" inside and made the cut on the Chip board i picked up on a new condo site that added it to "Free wood" outside the job site gates (24 x 24) which i needed my Blazer truck for Bought 3 hinges ($7) My next step after i get my Propane "guts" is 1 inch stone brick face tile (6 or 7 tiles for the bowl area with glue and grout and have it run it to chevrons of skid wood which will be 80 grit sand and blow torched to bring out the wood grains ..As for the "guts" 8 inch burner $14 amazon Air mixer valve $15 and shut off key $24 ( to my door $75) My side table is skid wood and the trim like your table Is made up of a old IKEA bed frame "slats" which we was throwing out I downloaded a Canadian maple leaf and printed it out bigger and traced it out on the side middle of the table with a slight angle and jig sawed it out Then took wood stencil letters and scattered City names of different areas of the table (Toronto Ottawa Montreal etc) and ran the blow torch over the whole table Then removed the letters for a burned around look like its been stamped on Later then month i will pour Cristal clear epoxy resin with red tint for the leaf and a middle open area from a odd wood gap and then Clear the whole table So for the whole thing i figure $200+ I'm not good at editing and uploading videos but if you guys have a website i will post the play by play pics BTW i uses a jigsaw, Hammer and drill No real measuring or leveling ..wanted to get it as rustic looking as i could

Could I use high strength countertop concrete mix and fiber like fiber chop or rebar fiber instead of the gfrc? That stuff is expensive and not readily available.

Would this be able to be used on a composite deck? I really like the design and like the gas fire pits but wanted to make sure I would be able to use on the deck first and if so then a portable one would be great to use in the back on the deck and in the front on our paver patio.

May I ask why you are using melamine wood? It seems to be so heavy to be a form and to be just to be thrown away.

The smooth Melamine surface transfers to the concrete, although it seems he wanted it smoother and sanded it anyway. If you want smoother you can cover it with a sheet of clear plastic. For smaller projects even plastic wrap works.

$35 product with $45 shipping?! Cool idea, but I'd definitely have to find a local retailer with the cement.

Francisco Burrola gfrc could be used for a countertop for a drop in grill. However, I think you would want to use a grill insert instead of the fire pit, since it would be easier to clean after cooking

you can make a similar design with regular concrete, but it won't be this white, and you can't make it this thin and portable. You need to make it at least 1.5" thick with regular concrete, and use rebar in the thin sides to re-enforce it. The weight for a table this size would be 100+ lbs. with regular concrete.

How do you keep the legs from folding when someone bumps it?

I would love to do this project but really do not want to pay over 300 for the parts I need. At that point I might as well buy one. What I am thinking is to cut the costs of some things. For starters the pigment from Firestone. What are alternatives so I can source it locally?

Francesco Zampieri no bow that we noticed. It could be the curved added by barrel distort of a worse angle lens. In practice, a bow can result if you rest the form on an uneven surface so it flexes as concrete cures. We leveled out the form pretty well before pouring the gfrc, however.

Thanks for the answer. I was asking because it seemed strange to see the bow...It's melamine, and well sealed, so the wood can't bend. And it's also a pretty light layer of concrete. Now that I see better, maybe it's just the air between the concrete and the wood that deceived me. Anyway I was asking just because I'd be interested in doing something similar, not to criticise :)

Francesco Zampieri no offense taken...it's all about learning! Melamine actually can bend under weight of a thick concrete pour. My first countertop a couple years ago, I cast against an uneven surface (my shop floor) and the form flexed and I got a warped surface as a result.

I think they do sell a fiber reinforced concrete at homedepot I know I used it

Not in the true sense -- Quikrete countertop mix and Quikrete Q-max have a very small number of fibers in them, but not nearly enough to make a difference. Hopefully one of the big box stores will see the light and carry GFRC soon!

Can you offer suggestions for a design of a CONVERTIBLE fire pit table -- one that is a standalone fire pit table say 4x2 long. that can be converted into a rectangular table for six using the fire pit table as the center element. [HINT: Idea for your next video!]. I cannot find this discussed anywhere. I have a porch where a fire pit accent piece would be wonderful but a full size table is not needed most of the time.

Not necessary with GFRC -- it has a defoaming admix in it.

Yup, jig saws are hard to cut straight with. That's where the term "getting jiggy with it" comes from. lol, I actually have no idea..just being weird. :)

What was the thickness of the gfrc top?

We used Fishstone GFRC mix -- link in video description. I've used a few different types of GFRC and Fishstone is my favorite.

Does anybody else just watch these and never make anything?
