DIY Polyurethane Engine and Trans. Mount

Tutorial on how to create a diy custom polyurethane engine/trans mount.
The polyurethane kit can be bought at McMaster-Carr (google them) for around $25. The part# is 8644K18 on their website.

Any vibrations after filling the mounts with polyurethane?

Yes there is quite a bit more vibration but that is due to the shore hardness I selected (94A? (very hard)..highest I think. Don't remember), and also the fact that this was the rear engine mount that is located under the vehicle in the center. You can go with a lower shore polyurethane (~60A) that is more flexible. From what I have read, on average OEM/factory engine mount stiffness is around ~25 to 30 on the durometer scale. My purpose for doing this was so that I would not have to change out the rear mount again due to the rubber tearing.

I will fill mine with Window Sealant Polyurethane, I hope it will not ibrate that much because that one is softer..

+csm i have did that years ago on a different car and it worked great as well, but it was sealant for concrete (used for where the concrete joints meet). There was better transfer of power from the motor than the stock engine mount, but it eventually broke after time (drove that car like a madman). The polyurethane mix method in this video lasts waay longer.

How many years did it last? I drive usually in the city and occasionally on highway.

+csm it lasted about 2 years, but keep in mind the motor had an increase of 30% over stock power, and had a 4 puck clutch disc with a stage 2 ACT pressure plate. And at stoplights I took off very aggressive 65% of the time driving that car. Basically it was like I was racing. And this was a 2 part urethane with a durometer shore hardness of 80A. On a side note, I prefer 2 part urethane as the curing of this process works better than using a 1 part urethane mix. For the 1 part urethane, most had said that you have to apply if in layers 1 at a time. Then wait for that layer to cure before applying another single layer. You will continue to apply and wait until you have finally filled the mount. I would not want to wait like for this process. ! person I have heard from ignored this and applied the 1 part polyurethane "3M window weld (it is 60A hardness cured)" all at once in his mount. Granted this was a caulking gun tube, He said he had to wait for 3-4 weeks for it to fully cure internally.
