    You can try “www.car-part.com” as it is a website that has all the North American junk yards and their available parts in 1 searchable site. Otherwise you will have to find a broken window trim, and then make a “mold” using clay/plastic and pour in a “liquid plastic”to recreate the “broken/missing sections”, etc.

    As an electrical engineer, when I looked at the key fob, I knew it utilized an infrared sensor. When I had the non-start issue, I immediately thought of “the average tv remote, not being directly pointed at the tv, and thus not being able to change the channel”. Thats how I realized, the key fob was not aligned due to the old worn out plastic housing.

    Hey Kene. Thanks for this video. I actually came across your ClubLexus post a couple years after you posted but I never got around to this until now. So I'm actually kind of dense when it comes to these things. In the fiber optic method, are you removing the white innard and then using the Goop to glue the LEDs onto it? And then you just glue the LED to the Fiber Optic rod? So no soldering required for the fiber optic method?

  • @majanboo22
    @majanboo22 Жыл бұрын

    Yes, correct. That is what I was doing. I chose GOOP instead of a glue gun, because I wasn’t sure if the hot glue(from the glue gun) would melt/warp the plastic needle pieces or the clear fiber optic rod.

    Did you keep the same piston rings when you swapped everything over from the boosted motor? Never changed rings? Any break in procedure at first startv

  • @majanboo22
    @majanboo22 Жыл бұрын

    I inspected (they looked good) used the same piston rings, and drove the car/engine very easy (like an old lady, normal driving and not racing) for the first 150 miles or so. Everything was good, but if I had to do it again, I would measure and make sure the rings were good using this video tutorial I found out a after I had put my motor together: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e6NpsqiLldTcido.html Depending on your level of how far modded your motor is determines just how much to file/trim the rings for your piston ring gap. This is so the piston rings won’t expand under the higher heat (heavy mods) and bind/gouge into the cylinder wall under the heavy loads.. If you have mild mods then you may not need to really file as much… Here is another link that may help in filing the rings: (Granted, I know it’s Chevy but the no concepts are the same) www.chevyhardcore.com/tech-stories/engine/piston-ring-gap-how-to-get-them-correct/

    You have a good point. I think I had just put gas in the car just prior to starting the video….if you keep watching, you will see that the range mileage keeps increasing as the ECM is constantly measuring how much fuel is in the tank(while the engine is running).. By the end of the video the fuel tank “Range” was increasing past the 40 miles mark.

    You did such a great job explaining this whole process. Thankyou for having this channel God bless.

  • @majanboo22
    @majanboo22 Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the kind words. I used new head bolts. But I measured the stretch tolerances of the existing crank bolts, and connecting rod bolts and they were within spec so I used the existing ones instead of buying new sets. I inspected the head gasket and it was fine, so I used “Copper Tack” on both sides before installing and using it again. The bearings and piston rings were also good so I reused them, but purchased another used piston with rings to replace my original cylinder #6 that was damaged (and also gouged the #6 cylinder wall of my original block). I used a practically new 5.0L block from a CLK500 with 43,000 miles and transferred my 2004 S55 AMG 5.4L internals into it. I learned this is possible from Demetre Taktakishvili (R.I.P.) of DTK Motorsports. When doing this though, I had to use the oil pump from a CLK430( and also swap/install the sprocket gear from my S55 oil pump) because the oil inlet port on this newer block is shifted by about 1/2 an inch.

  • @majanboo22
    @majanboo22 Жыл бұрын

    You are right regarding what you see in this video…that is why it is recommended to take measurements from the bottom, middle, and the top of each cylinder with at least 3 points, and then rotate the tool 90 degrees and do the same… You can rotate the tool over a smaller amount of degrees, do it again until you have enough sample measurements to feel comfortable. Would a precision German or Japanese dial bore gauge be more accurate at the 0.0001 Significant Figures, I am certain but I did not want to spend over $300 a set for that level of bore gauge. I do understand your thoughts, but for this simple rebuild I figured this was good enough.

    Great work. I have a similar situation. I got a 5.0 block and was told that existing oil pump from my m113k would work with no modification. I was told that the 5.4l is the block that needs the extra modification with oil pump. What are your thoughts

  • @majanboo22

    For my S55 internals to CLK500 block transplant, I found and used a 2000 CLK430 oil pump, and swapped/pressed out the gear sprocket with my S55 oil pump gear. This was Not necessary if I used the larger CLK430 oil pump chain, but I didn’t(used my S55 oil pump chain). For the early 2000’s (examples here in this message below are 2000-2004 body styles - 4.3L, 5.0L, and 5.4L M113/K) It depends on which style of oil pump you have.. from my memory there are 2 main different body types of oil pumps. The smaller style pump has 2-3 variations.. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR OIL PAN!! E-Class oil pumps won’t work on S-class engine blocks as there is excess oil tubing and it will not fit in S-class oil pan…this is due the design of the car body frame/engine chassis members. Also the oil outlet port on the E-500 class oil pump that is shifted/offset by 1/2 an inch to the S-class M113/k engine blocks oil port. ___________________ Oil Pump Examples with Part Numbers BODY STYLE 1 - E-500 Class oil pumps with “extra oil tubing” “113-181-03-01” E500 Class style “113-180-33-01” Sl55 amg.
