I Made a helpful tool, a tapping fixture that helps me tap precisely perpendicular to the workpiece and not mess up the threads. In this tap guide, I can use up to 10mm tap. I have used plywood pieces, 20mm Linear shaft, Linear bearing, 10mm Drill chuck, Bolt 1/2 - 20UNF thread size and 5.5 inches length, 20mm Shaft support, 12mm 2nos. Flange bearings, 20mm 2 nos. Flange linear bearings, Metal parts, Screws, etc.

    This is a must have for anyone owning a tap set, since you glue up a lot of wood you could use the trick of spreading glue with some threaded rod.

    This is a great tool and making, the only downfall is that you have to screw to the table. I would make it as a small jig table with tapping in center of the table and some hold on`s for the material. You don`t want the material to move around.

    I wonder... how the thread tap sits centered in the drill chuck? The tap has four corners and drill chuck usually has three jaws?

    It's a good and simple design. But if you already have a drill press, why do you need this? And it seems like he have a lathe too. I know any guy with only a power drill and know how to use it could make something similar.
