DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 5

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here I put the walls on(Crossing fingers for good weather this week), and add the roof, surface under the loft bed, and the rear door for the tailgate. With such a simple build I ran into a good amount of problems in this stage. But its finally together. And the rest of the week will be little touch ups before going in to be sprayed.
EDIT:
I now have a website that you can visit to see all the items I've used in this build. while each individual email will have links to some of the products that I use in this build. This website will me a more complete collection. Thank you again for watching.

Excellent video series! No yapping mug on camera, just high-speed footage with a great design. I will use your basic design for just a topper rather than a camper and I will angle the front portion for a little less wind resistance. Love your design. Simple, sturdy, neat. Great job!

Hahaha. Thanks. I'll be doing something similar for my 2.0 build this summer. And ignore my battery videos then. Very boring stuff.

Keep up the good work I like the fact that you are driving daily with it on that way you know how to tweak it right then instead of having to take it apart to fix any problems that may occur.

Its a great help. And its been fun when people stop to tell you that they notice the progress. And they can all see it grow with their own eyes.

Good stuff man really enjoy watching this series of videos that you've put out certainly learned a fair bit I've considered doing this myself I have a background of aircraft manufacturer using Composites specifically interesting since we have to go to a place and buy one of these you know they're 30-40- 50 thousand xcetera, but I commend you most importantly I'm jumping in and doing it that's how we learn I really appreciate you sharing what you're doing there that's the backbone of America and these tumultuous times people just jumping in and making stuff happen for them and their families not relying on over structure if you know what I mean peace brother!

Thank you. Cost was a big factor in this build. That and making it function the way I want. And not the way some company decides. It will be cheaper for this prototype and my next model then it would be to buy a new camper. thank you again. And glad you enjoyed it.

Nice, I have a Titan too, building my own "bug out box". The one thing I wanted to see was the door, how to build it so that it's tight and weather proof against the tailgate but still be able to open the tailgate but you filmed from the side 😢

Ok what was that really bright light at 2:30 that started at the far right and seemed to come toward the camera. 🤔 The sun is out.amd bright that day but this was really bright 😎

It's not as light as my next version will be. But it's still under 400lbs for the shell. 4 people easily lift it up onto the truck with no issues. Hopefully I can shave a lot off my next version by changing my materials.

@@RecceCampers nice. That's actually not bad at all. I'm planning on doing a wood slide in soon but much lighter framing, mostly just using the skin for structure

I have a question, what about windows for the side. Maybe security reasons? You dont have to answer, I'll keep watching. My grandfather had a camper on the back of his truck also. I just wanted to let you know you are doing great work. How many children do you have? It was so cute to see the little one jump up😁 calling it a night. I will watch the other videos tomorrow. I'm so glad the The Crockers recommended your channel 😁

Thank you. And as for your question on windows. I'm still toying around with the idea. The hard structure will not have any. Maybe eventually in the rear door. And possibly in the pop up sides and back. There is a window in the front that connects it to the cab of the truck. My honest answer is that I love the blackout idea. And having something that I can be in and have zero light come in. And zero lights go out is the appealing part to me. But I'm looking at having some placed later for natural light. Just not sure where just yet.
