    I am planning a small Camper trailer build in the near future that I want to tow behind my Jimny / SJ410 (Probably starting end of October 2021 if all goes well).. And this is one of the coolest DIY builts I have came across.. And it is South-African.. I really like your kitchen Idea. and will remember this as it is ergonomically well thought out.. I also need to start my drawing process but still gathering Ideas from all over before I begin.

  • @MariusBotha

    @MariusBotha

    Hi, Yep that's the best way to start. First get all the ideas from others that u think will work for u then start from there. I Spent hours in campers for sale to see what ticks me off and what works great. The main difference with my kitchen is that I don't want to cook near the slide portion. Almost all the ones u buy have the stove there.. That all seems good until u make some bacon or something that splashes oil everywhere in all those nooks and cranny's... then to clean that is a proper mission. I like to cook a meter away from the kitchen and have my splashes go to the ground. Only takes me a few minutes to set up a gas bottle and a burner. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks. My main issue with most of the production kitchens is the stove that's built into the slide out section... That all seems good and nice until u make some bacon or some oily dish that likes to splatter. U go try cleaning those setups with all the nooks and cranny's, even your fridge right next to it will be covered. Some even have fridge blankets on that gets dirty. They might seems good but not very practical if u like ure stuff clean.. I've seen kitchen's where obviously people don't share my hygiene level.. lol Thank you

    hehe. Nope not at all, I spent a lot of time inside and outside a bushlapa and the companion, took measurements and built my own hybrid from the 2. Each had some major issues that I don't like , my van is about 450mm shorter than a conqueror. did the design from scratch in SketchUp. Thanks for watching

    Amazing content. I love the trailer. I read on another one of your videos that you are keeping track of the cost. Has that been revealed yet and how much of it was getting the metal cut for you? Thank you for sharing the build.

  • @MariusBotha

    Hi there. I do have a spread sheet of the trailer. It wont be 100 percent accurate as I've wasted a lot of steel due to being dumb and learning as I go along.. lol I will at some stage put up a costing of the trailer and show where I'm at. I also took all the metal on a supply and cut order so I don't really know exactly how much of what I've paid was for cutting and how much for the steel supply. They quote me on supply and cut as one final price per section. Thank you

    Why not build of wood?

  • @MariusBotha

    @MariusBotha

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi. Strength, longevity and steel is much easier to work with for me. Especially when building small sections like the fold out table's.. U could never make them in wood in that configuration. None of the proper camper manufacturers use wood as it just cannot keep up in this type of environment. Thank you

    Are you planning on sharing the plans?

  • @MariusBotha

    @MariusBotha

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi, I would be wary of sharing the sketch up drawings as it would almost be impossible to figure out what worked. if u look at my latest video u will see like 8 different campers drawn there.. all with certain changes for certain parts.. Its a total mess when just looking at it. A lot of the cut sections needs modifying due to design flaws so when people order from the drawings and they don't work it might be an issue. I wouldn't mind sharing drawings if I knew they were right and worked. Thank you for watching
