I'm from Tx.. Flooded out from Harvey. Watching this video from a motel paid for by fema. Hubby on Long Term Care Hospice. I'm buying a travel trailer to fix up.. I could never make a shower like that.. I sure appreciate you sharing your talents.

Just install a railway and a shower curtain. that would be enough. you may install a insulated box with an exhaust hole for the heater and use it in the winter. You are skillful so you can do it. I like to watch your videos, see how you solve problems and use some of your ideas. I'm from Bulgaria and I can bet your videos are watched worldwide!

You guys were really, really cute!! It's so nice to see a guy that doesn't yell & get mad when all she is trying to do is help! I know what it's like to build & test something all at the same time. You are doing a good job. It seems to me a shower is the most often over looked item, I know Debrajoy was always hunting down a shower! A lot of the others just accept not getting a shower (very often) or just washing up, that would be the hardest part of camping to do without besides the bed to me! I can improvise the cooking, but do without the shower Nawwww!!! LOL Judie

Nice job, on both your parts. Put a small triangular sink in the far corner and put a small protruding ledge along the bottom of the door, like a rain gutter so the water falls past the crack. Then you'll have compacted paradise:)

Stephen O'Laughlin I agree with the bread pan. Make the drain pipe the pivot point, having it swing out from under the mirror. Swing it out while still seated to wash your hands. Swing it in to shower.

First, I scribed. Awed by your thought processes, creativity, solutions and abilities. FYI-DIY: 1. Shower head mount above mirror, point towards commode. Re: Can sit, use 2 hands-take care of business. 2. Sink = dry wallers’ “mudder tray” (hvy duty) mounted in corner, under faucet-beneath your 3” or 4” shelf, use 2 small stainless steel “L” brackets and silicone (water proof seal) with small drain hole + your flexible hose straight down hole to floor drain. When using sealant - run a strip of masking tape along either side of gap to fill with a 2mm space between the 2 rows of tape - in which to squirt sealant - run a wet finger along bead of sealant to bed it in and remove both strips of tape. Job done. Factory finish.

As for your caulking skills. My son-in-law A cabinet maker taught me how to caulk. Very simple, cut the hole so small you don't think it'll work. Then inlarge very little if needed. He gave me a tube of caulk and said cut it open I did and he threw the tube away he gave me another tube said cut it open I did he threw the tube away at that point he showed me what to do and I've never forgot it and I feel very confident caulking now and I do a fair amount of it.

Hey, thanks for inspiring me. One Question/Suggestion: Noticed you're working with Type B pex/Crimping. Looked like you left it uncovered in the sun(Will cause it to prematurely Fail). Covering/Insulating it would also prevent sun exposure and prevent some wasted heat energy. Also have you researched pex Type A? It expands(won't crack if freezes) & u wouldn't have to use 90° elbows that might freeze. Supply house.com and Home Depot(Apollo expansion) are good sources for these parts. I can purchase smaller quantities of pipe at George Moreland in Tigard, Oregon. They also rent the Expansion tool(cheap). Because you're using such a small amount-should go with the best(so as to not have revisit this project again for 25+ years) There have been alot of failures with Crimps. Just wanted to give my 2 cents. Again, thank you, & free-KZread, for enhancing my life so much.

At your 12:00 mark, I couldn't see the other leak location, but if that gray water tank had two plugs vertically oriented to each other, it's possible to connect them with a clear hose to have a low budget way to view your levels ;)

I really enjoyed this and watched it from start to finish. I live in an RV year round even in snow and thought about a just in time hot water heater. Nine gallons of hot water makes for a quick shower. I am on grid with a generator and have to check if one of these would fit in a Winnebago. My only concern is the winter in West Virginia. But thanks for a great video and keep them coming.

One suggestion from the peanut gallery.....Don't mix cold water with the hot for shower, adjust temperature based on flow. So set it at lowest heat setting and highest water flow at the shower valve. If you need more heat, adjust the faucet lower water volume by hand. Those water heaters will always kick a lot of heat when you put the water back on during a shower. They aren't perfect, but certainly a convenient solution. Wish I could help on the sink, I'm as befuddled as you....

And a couple of comments/questions: - Firstly, your wife is a good sport to be the official tester. Good that she approves. Even better that she's affirming. - Secondly, why did you decide to mount the tankless on the exterior of the add-on box instead of the interior wall? - Thirdly, how are you securing the LP gas bottle? - Lastly what did you wind up doing about the tank leaks and the gravity fill? I'm watching your progress with great interest as I begin a similar build in a week or two. Nice work!

For the sink, how about a drawer made out of your PVC sheet stock, with a slanted bottom and the drain located at the bottom of the slant. Pull it out when you need a sink, close when you don't need it and reclaim the space. Use some flex hose to connect to a traditional P-trap in the void at the floor. Do you have a vent fan for the shower? Otherwise mold will be a big problem. Very cool build!

You aren't terrible at caulking! Looks great. I am the WORST. A three-year-old can do better. I'll give it a go again, but stop and ask someone else if I can't improve from the past. I watched a video where guys were pros. They said tape the area, like when painting edges. You'll be letting the caulk go onto the tape when you spread it, to remove when finished. Go through this extra first step with taping off the area. Then, before you spread the caulk, wet your finger before you spread the caulk. Remove the tape. Voila!

You do nice work. Toilet paper would stay dry behind a shower curtain. Sink in bathroom is a must. It is the only sink to wash hands and brush your teeth. Using fitted sheet. try putting the bottom sheet on both corner's at the head of the bed before you place the wood that makes the center of the bed. With Sheet secure at the head of bed, sheet is ready to be pulled down and made secure at the foot of the bed. Noisy fans drive me crazy. Squirrel cage move's more air with less noise. The shape may be a issue.

You need a curtain in there or a door that turns inward the shower so it will drip off the door inside the shower. Just a cirtain is most simple but less comfy because they often stick to you. And the solution for applying the silicone os simple. Take an empty silicone tube. Push the open end into an oval. Push hard to make it stay in that radius you prefer and push it firm into the corner with the fresh silicone. Keep it under an angle in relation to the length of the seam you are about to do so only the open end with the desired radius will be in contact with the silicone. Make sure the bead is bigger than the radius you want to create. Now push the tube forward with the open end facing front so all excessive silicone gets scooped up into the empty tube. Have toiletpaper present to clean the leading edge op the open tube after each strike. It is better to cut the open end under an angle (with a sharp exacto in a clean cut) so you can reach al the way into a corner at the end of a seam without bumping the top of the open tube end before the bottom part reaches the end. You create a lot of silicone waste and toiletpaper but the result looks like a pro if done well. Just push hard enough into the corner so there will form two straight pieces on the leading edge of the tube against the pannels you are making watertight. It will just scrape all excessive material away and leaves a tight straight perfect concave bead of silicone. Only after lifting the tube off you need to take a wet finger and flatten the last cm on the end. I made beads between 2 and 15 mm this way. Like a pro. With the Simpson brand I hadthe best results. And I do not think the heater needs to be outside like that in the rain. It needs a top cover for rain at least to cover the exhaust.

New sub. You guys are a great couple. Love the dynamics! My only change would have been to add a larger hose / pvc conduit to runn the pex through from the back of the rv to the heater. Pex is not a good choice for areas where direct sunlight will hit it, as it degrades over time. Also the additional conduit/ hose will add some insulation properties. You would just have to determine how much racking with the vehicle in motion to prevent seals breaking. Thats why I would use a hose. Of course you could also get some foam pipe insulation for home depot / revy to wrap around the exposed pex (usually about ~$2 for 6 ft.). Better safe than sorry. Great video!

HEY on our tankless heater in the house when the water pressure drops just a little the water goes cold. And yes we cycle from cold to hot to reset. There is a regulator you can get that keeps your water pressure stable. It should stay in the 35 to 45 range.I think that would help.Good job.

When I installed my tankless, I added 3 things to the setup that you might want to consider doing. 1) Instead of using the 2 D batteries, get a cheap 12v to 3v step down converter off EBay. They are cheap and will allow you to hook the power to a car battery. The battery compartment on those things very easily corrode. www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-DC-DC-Step-Down-12V-to-3V-3A-15W-Converter-Power-Supply-Module-/232418296965?hash=item361d35c485:g:pB8AAOSwlhZZcWa2 2) Put an outdoor water drain spout to empty the tank after every use. You don't want to keep standing water in those things for long. 3) Tap into the power switch, and relocate it next to your shower. They work fine outdoors, but the metals corrode easily. I have used one of those tankless heaters for 3 years. The first year it was located outdoors and I went through 2 of them. The last two years I have had it located indoors, and have had no issues whatsoever. It has worked full time for 2 people and (while quirky compared to a tank heater) is reliable.

Use a length of PVC pipe that will fit in as a sink. Place PVC caps on both ends then use a band saw to cut in half lengthwise, then use a hole saw to cut in the "bottom" of the PVC pipe (sink) to put your drain in.

If you're still looking for a sink, think about a stainless food service pan. Like at fast food restaurants. They come in different depths and sizes.
