DIY Nimbus 2000

Ойын-сауық

In this video I make a nimbus 2000. out of scrap wood.
Using an angle grinder with a flap sanding disk, I carve the broom stick out of a solid piece of scrap 2x4. I then shape the bristles of a an old school broom using water and PVA. to finish i glue the bristles of the old broom to the newly carved broomstick and give them both a coat of wood stain.
Hope you like the video, and good luck to any would be wizards out there planning on making your own broom. Hope this helps.

    Hey Patch, Great job, Love the color and grain that appeared out of that old piece of wood. Love discovering beautiful things inside the wood like you did from that old piece.

    So as an Indian, your pathetic English grammar is acceptable? Seriously, what has 'I am Indian' got to do with this?

  • @HeyPatch

    @HeyPatch

    5 жыл бұрын

    There is a cool feedback loop that makes the English language as popular as it is, particularly as a second language. English spoken or written with poor grammar or pronunciation is generally understood due to the high levels of exposure to incorrect English, this fact adds to it being a wise choice when choosing a second language and thus the cycle continues. Sorry for the long reply... here is a potato 🥔

  • @vengervoldur6534

    Nah, don't clean up the loose bristles of the broom. Leave that as a chore for the new owner of that broom with a follow-up gift of the complete broom maintenance kit, like Hermione gave Harry (in book5?). That way it adds to the gift. Also, I dig the Converse. Never owned (or worn) a pair. I hear they are terribly uncomfortable, but who cares about comfort when you look dapper? The PVA glue and water solution was pretty ingenious a way to reshape the broom bristles. I never would have thought of that. Likely, I would have made a whole new broom head altogether, which would have been way harder and probably would have failed. :) Overall, excellent build; I quite like it. And yeah, those flap discs are really effectively (as you obviously discovered), even on red oak, which is a substantially denser wood than pine.

    Oh man... I completely about forgot the complete broom maintenance kit,... oh well im sure there'll be some maintenance to be done on the broom in the future. The PVA glue idea came to me after nearly a week of trying to figure out how the hell to do the bristley bit. I almost went down the root of making it myself but figured it'd probably fall apart with the slightest knock from a bludger. haha thanks for digging the converse, they arent real converse but the look the part, and yeah converse are over priced, uncomfy and will fall apart within 2 months ..... but they do look dapper don't they ;) Flap sanding disks are my new favorite!! thanks for watching and commenting Venger, you rock. Can u do a firebolt

  • @HeyPatch

    @HeyPatch

    6 жыл бұрын

    I actually made a firebolt for my niece. The firebolt is easier as long as you can find the appropriately sized & shaped branch as the firebolt has a rough bark texture except for on the top front of the broom where you just sand off all the bark, it also has some gold runes there that I just drew on with gold sharpie. For The brush part I just used a bunch of small twigs glued and tied on to the end of the broom, you can get copper “anti slug” tape to use around the bristles as a cosmetic detail to hide the string or zip ties used to tie down the twigs(the tape isn’t strong enough to hold the brush on by its self) someday I might get around to making a firebolt video but in the meantime I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and for the comment😊👍

  • @HeyPatch

    @HeyPatch

    Hey +Michael Gorey this one cost me about £10 (about $13) I already had the scrap wood that I made the body of the broom out of. I had to buy a broom for the bristles and a sanding disk for the angle grinder. All in all you could easily make this for under $30 :) hope this helps & thanks for watching :D
