Well, you got my sub, that's for sure. I like many of your decisions in this build, including welding the rails in. Saves on hardware costs, and faster to lay out. If they're good rails, they should last awhile. To those who say, "why not just buy a tool cabinet?" Sure, if that fits the bill of a person's shop needs, I'd certainly go that route. However, I challenge anyone to find a reasonably priced cabinet this size with six drawers all the same height. Plus, this one can be made a couple inches wider or thinner in any dimension to suit possible size constraints.

This is amazing! I am a professional automobile technician and I see my coworkers paying thousands of dollars for "professional" tool cabinets. I thought I was being smart by buying a cheaper one that even if I would have to replace every few years it would still be less expensive than even buying a used one from a major tool dealer. However, you have done it right! This is the second video I have seen by you and your craftsmanship and imagination is superb! nothing against the companies I buy tools from, they are a business and they make very high quality tools and tool cabinets. But you building something like this for yourself or even to sell is by far much better than what we can buy for $3,000 to $5,000 here in America. I subscribed to you channel, please keep up the good work, it is inspiring!

If you have plans or a cut sheet I would to see that so I know how much material to order. Thank you again.

You mean spend twice as much on materials than a harbor freight tool box that can be shipped at a reasonable rate?

A harbor freight box that WILL fall apart within the first year of use! This thing is indestructible, it will surely last atleast 4 generations.

I really like the idea and the ambition. But for the cost of supplies, and say you paid yourself $15 an hour for the time spent on making and painting this box, you could have very well bought one that was pre-built. but you can definitely take pride in what you've built there. good job.

Can we all understand that his business is not building a commercial product. That this not only help to develop skills and that it generates revenue. I understand your point but I don’t think the people (not only you) leaving this comments understand the purpose of these videos.

The key here is he is not paying himself 15$ an hour. His time is free. Under that logic you might as well order take out every night as the hour it takes to prepare the meal plus the cost of the food makes it cheaper.

@@shawncrocker7037 No person's time is ever free. I have a job plus a business, and do auto racing as my hobby. My job nets $250 us per day and my business pays me about $400 per day. Now, if I took a day off work, this cabinet would cost me $650 plus materials if it took me all day to build. If I did this on a weekend I would be sacrificing family time or pumping put extra work in my business. My time is worth roughly $100 per hour business wise since I average 4hrs daily for the $400. If I chose to spend that time on this box, you get the picture. Every hour that I spend with my family or racecar shenanigans, it costs me $100 and I'm fine with that. I'm very aware that is what it's costing me. Let's take the eating out example. I'm going to ignore the business income since that is unique to my situation. A good meal for 1 is $9.03 at a local restaurant. The ingredients cost to make is roughly $5 with a 30 minute time investment. The question is, is $4.03 worth the time investment of 30 minutes? How about after adding the 10 minutes of dish cleanup afterwards? Most of the time we cook because its a family activity. However, time/money wise, the monetary benefit is negative. If you float through live truly valuing your life as zero, then sure your time has the price of $0. But you only have so many hours of your life before its over so the zero value time you have is finite which means it has value by default. For high achievers, the is no such thing as time=free. I do not consider myself extreme but I do get a lot done in a short amount of time. People like Bezos or Musk wouldn't fathom spending 10hrs a day for $650 net in their current position like I do. So time worth is relative. This video generates revenue indefinitely so not only is he improving skills, he's building revenue streams that will continue to grow. His case, worth it. Me personally? I'd rather buy a brand new box with warranty delivered to my warehouse so it doesn't disrupt my productivity. Still costs me $17 in income for the 10 minute ordering process but I'm ok with that.
