Nice! I did the same with 3d printed parts 4 years ago, then I changed to 30X30 profile aluminum. I havent used since two years ago due I wanted to add a camera, I tested on april with good results.

Nice job, man, very similar to what i'm building. By the way, you shouldn't mount the lead screw directly on to the motor shaft, because on higher loads you might have acuracy problems. 👍

Good job, very neat and properly planned design!

This setup might be suitable for cutting vulcanized fiberboard pieces of guitar pickup flatwork if a low-power cutting laser was used instead of a router head. Even with very fine bits, there's tear-out even with very small, very sharp cutters. Fred Stuart has a purpose-built laser cutter for making flatwork that he demonstrated in a video several years ago (maybe 10+), and the flatwork come out beautifully. Preferable to dies and a punch press, given the cost of that kind of setup (only useful for large production runs anyhow). This looks like just the machine for the job. It would actually only need to be 2 axis, X and Y, since the material is flat and not very thick.

We are trying to make cnc with Arduino mega 2560 and cnc shield and A4988 steeper motor driver. We have uploaded GRBL code from open source. But the moters are doing vibrate only. We have checked several times connection is correct. We just seen an error : 22 on GRBL controller. Pls help me out ASAP.

Hey, this is exactly what id like to build, but the price of the 500w motor seems rather steep. could i not just use a motor from an old electric drill and a screw on chuck? or would the rpm's be to low?

That side action on the cutting disk with no guard could have ended bad... I'm pretty sure that's like the #1 thing not to do with that type of disk. It creates thinner areas midway through the disk which makes it much more prone to self destructing. I'm sure if I was in your position I would have done the same thing at least with a guard and face shield though. I usually just use a file when the material is very small.
