DIY: Making a Fake TV with LED's to Deter Burglars

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Well, PCBWay reached out to me again to see if I wanted to collab. Still not sure if someone's blackmailing them on my behalf, but good times either way.
So, PCBWay's kindly supplied me with a bunch of materials of my choosing, with which I'm going to try to build a DIY Fake TV LED Array Thingy (TM). They've not paid me or directed me in what to say, and this will be an honest review of their products and services.

Note that I'm not a professional (in any sense of the word), and please don't mindlessly copy anything that I do.

You should try warming up your meds before taking them if they causing you to make mistakes. 😜

What's missing is the typical quick change in colors and brightness when a scene on TV changes. You only have the slow changes.

Yeah they should also have periods where its darker and flashes bright when something exciting or action happens on screen.

Yep, in retrospect I should have added more than two fast-flashers (the camera didn't really pick those up very well too). But, if anyone wants to duplicate this cursed design, learn from my mistakes.

@@DiscountSasquatch I think there needs to be more coordination, even with fast flashers. Like you have a scene that runs for 2 to 10 seconds, in which you move the colors slowly, and then completely switch them over to new starting values, where you can have slow fading again. It's pretty much a job for a micro controller.

@graelex 100% agree with you. This was just really meant to be a small project that someone with little or no background in electronics can do. I might do a redemption arc though, and try out a version 2 with an Arduino.
