I just bought a similar mower yard dump trailer at auction last night. I got it for a $33 bid so not a bad deal.

Just finished building a spreader, based on your idea. Purcahsed a 5 foot tilt trailer at auction ($95). Mounted two flanged bearings to the sidewalls and used 1 inch all-thread rod for the axle. (I started with 5/8, but it bent). Also built an agitator for mine, fins mounted on black pipe, slipped over the all thread, cotter pinned together. Now I can get lime bulk delivered and load it with my front loader, I spread 4 tons on two acres in less than a day. Thanks for the idea and inspiration.

5ft tilt trailer would be great. I like the flanged bearings and the agitator idea. Thanks for the comment.

Great idea! I have been looking for a dyi peat moss spreader and this can be adapted for that purpose. Maybe a paddle on the axle and bigger gap on the tail gate.

I've been looking for an answer to my sand spreader problem (I don't have one and they are WAY too expensive to buy) so this looks like the answer... I already have a similar trailer and like Scrap Metal Works suggested...thanks SMW I'll add some agitators to break up the sand... thanks from NW Ontario Canada

Use powdered lime plus put chains on rear wheel for vibration while spreading still rear tailgate must be open 1/2 inch to spread lime.

Did you find the straight axle without any paddles work to break up the ag lime

How many bags of lime can u put in it

I only put about 150 pounds in it.

Pipe is approximately 1/4 inch from floor on the bottom.
