DIY Knife from Tablesaw Blade | Heat Treat WITHOUT a Forge

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I recently came across the left over saw blade I used to make the irons for my homemade finger planes. (link below) I decided to use it to make a custom knife. After sketching out the rough shape, I used a cutoff wheel to cut it out. I shaped the blade on my homemade belt grinder then heat treated the steel using a MAP gas torch. Some black walnut handles and brass mosaic pins finished out the knife. This knife sharpened up awesome and looks great. This was a super fun project. Let me know what you think of the results.

If you're ever unsure if your steel is hot enough touch it with a magnet a magnet will not stick If it is hot enough. The heat causes the steel to demagnetize

I save all kinds of stuff like old saw blades with intentions of doing things like this but I never do.
