    2 things 1 The real environmental cost of ethanol from corn may be hidden because of the amount of fuel, likely diesel may negate the supposed reduction of pollution. 2 A youtuber that I forget the name of (maybe Chicanic) showed how to remove alcohol from gas by adding and stiring in water to combine with the alcohol, which when left to settle separates, leaving gas on top and water with alcohol on bottom. This works because while alcohol and gas mix, alcohol and water also mix and apparently better or easier than alcohol and gas. Since the combination of them does not mix with gas the gas is (mostly?) non alcohol. I'm not sure if the separation process is cost effective but I'm gonna try it to see!

    Where I live...clear premium is 2 bucks a gallon more than 91, and 2.60 more than 87. I use it in my small engines and dirt bikes. I tried it in my truck, and got less than 1 mpg increase over 87. If it was 50 60 cents more...I'm in, but I already pay over 100 bucks to fill my truck with 87. No way can I pay 160 to fill it if I don't get at least 5 mpg more.

    how do you find center of the slap on cnc? before runing the gcode

  • @homebuiltshop
    @homebuiltshopКүн бұрын

    I have a centerline on my wasteboard that I line up the parts with. All of my gcode files are centered around that centerline. As long as I line the parts to be cut with that centerline, the parts will (hopefully) always be centered.

    Having the CNC, many people describe as having another employee, will you start making the sub tonic in more of a production mode? While it is cutting, you can work on other parts of the guitar, like the neck?

    I don’t have a CNC, but I do prefer to glue my fretboard on first (using epoxy as to not introduce moisture into the neck), and then carve my neck. Then I check to see if the fretboard is still level. Sometimes carving the neck releases tension in the wood. I fret the neck last. I use that “magic tape” … the frosted kind for paper, to tape over the truss rod. It’s nice and thin. I leave that in the neck. That’s a nice looking bass design!

  • @homebuiltshop
    @homebuiltshop3 күн бұрын

    Thanks. When hand building, (not cnc) I slot the fretboard, glue it on the neck, fret the neck, then carve the back last. I'm really liking this design too.

    Yes that crap is horrible for small engines. Both my vehicles are between 10 and 12 years old and neither one of my vehicles run good on that crap. Yes I get horrible gas mileage. Yes it screws up my injectors. I NJ we use different blend gas during fall until spring which also has horrible milage and much more expensive. And in NJ you can not find a gas that does not have that horrible ethanol. At least every station I seen has ethanol at a minimum of 10%

    Thats an interesting idea. My first thought is that they might be too thin and may possibly bend when in use. Of course I don't know that for sure, so it might be worth trying out.

    I got into it with a guy about my motor was a chevy 283cid, he showed me the two letters "HB" located on the front of the motor , driver side, just to right of the timing chain cover. Looked it up in an old school Clinton's book, and it said it was a 327 high performance with a manual 3 or 4 speed transmission. 🤔

    AVOID ANY ETHANOL gasoline! It corrupts and destroys the fuel system integrity and seals. Lowers mpg. Extremely tough on motorcycles.

    Thanks so much ! This is very helpful as my eyes even with my glasses on can’t read the tiny instructions in the can and bottle. So that’s why I found this video ! Btw I had a great laugh 😂at the ‘drying’ segment. The ‘air guitar’ 🎸 was absolutely my favourite! @6:20 a good tip he made, check clamps, and do a visual inspection and go over everything with a screwdriver checking for tightness. I pressed my fan belts and air con belt and found a fair amount of flex, so I’m glad I took a couple of minutes to inspect other things like hoses (condition) while replacing air filter. Also oil, power steering and brake fluid levels and coolant level in the coolant reservoir. (Take reservoir containers cap off and look in side, as the plastic container can become stained and a false level can be given from only looking from the outside). Always take the radiator cap off (with cold engine) and check coolant level as an air bubble in the hose from reservoir to radiator can prevent coolant from topping up the radiator.

    my 2020 F250 had that yellow gad cap. i once put in e85 ( it wads over a dollar lower than e10. i lost power. and 6 mpg. took many fill-ups and $$ chemicals to clean out my tank till i got my 16 mpg average back. i wish there is a place close to me whee i could buy Real gas. not this watered down trash. as at $25.USD a gallon at the big box i can not afford to run my truck on it.

    for me it would make sense to use as wide straight vutting bit as you can. the way jig is created it will mostly cut at a point if the bit is narrow, making it wider and sharp would automatically remove wood in stages but it also depends on how slopy is the slot for the axle and how tight are the bungies i chosen a different aproach i mounted wide roundening bit on a drill press and made a box with guides i could press against the drill press stand i can only make shapes i have bits for, so mostly flat D but the neck is formed in 2 pases and in most cases is smooth from the get go

    Adair Guitars put out a video yesterday on guitar wiring diagrams with a link to a Free software program that allows you to design and test different guitar wiring options before ever soldering anything. Relatively easy to use it looks like, might be useful for people wanting to do custom wiring for their guitars and allowing them to insure that if the real wiring is done correctly it should work correctly.

    One advantage of the old table saw over a Sawstop is that the fret slotting blade Eric showed doesn't work on a Sawtop (it's 6", and Sawstop doesn't go below 8"). I have to slot fretboards by hand.

    Talking about doing the inlay on the sides. Have you seen the Guitar's that Gabriele Reti has done on her channel specially the ones she did last year for the GGBO 23 event. It wasn't inlays on the sides but she did a pretty elaborate inlay for the top's on some.
