DIY KITCHEN MAKEOVER ✨ Renter-Friendly Transformation For a Small Kitchen (On A Budget)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this episode of Rental Redesign, I'm tackling my apartment kitchen. I have a small galley style kitchen with black counters and outdated cabinets. I'll show you a few easy renter-friendly tips, hacks and DIYs by changing out hardware, putting up removable subway tile wallpaper, and adding beautiful (and functional) decor pieces.
This kitchen makeover brings in rich, warm colors and a boho/eclectic aesthetic. The total cost came in right around $150. ✨ #kitchenmakeover

You can level out your stove by the feet. Usually there are "screw feet" that can level out the stove. It will actually help with making your cooking more even because oils aren't pooling on one side and burning corners.

Alli, I just watched for the first time one of your videos off of your IG post but when you watch them thru that entity you cannot leave a comment so........I went to your KZread site and subscribed. I do not have any female friends to speak of literally other than IG friendships going onto 2 years plus and I wish I was a neighbor to many of them. I wish I was your neighbor too. I am sure I am a lot older than you but sometimes I get do excited when a DYI comes together I too do a little gig. Music or no music I do a gig. Your kitchen reno is outstanding. Wow, new wallpaper, a new rug, a placement of cutting boards, etc simple items that really add a wonderful pop to your kitchen. In my former residence of 20 years I had a galley kitchen without a bar but it had one long counter top not on the food prep/stove side and it was so nice to craft on. It looked out to a very long balcony and I faced the fountain which was soothing to listen to and create. On your IG post with a photo of your dining room you said your table is where you craft so usually you eat on your couch. Have you ever thought of crafting on your kitchen bar? In closing, I love the new basket for your candle melt warmer. You gave me a super idea to put my warmer in the kitchen. I know exactly what box in the basement my warmer is in and hopefully I have melts left called ocean. I think this year I will use the warmer on the nautical revamped porch I created last summer. I never thought of using it out there until this second. I had an outlet rewired ladt summer and a new switch plate put on near an old credenza I dragged home from someone's curb. I do not know what you do for your career but if you ever want a part time job, realtors are always looking for stagers. If your ever interested in that take a before photo of your space and a after. Get with friends to redesign there space even if it is only to get a portfolio together. My condo was used often to show as a model for potential buyers when the one bedrooms were filled with boxes and scattered furniture buyers could see the scale of the rooms when furnished. The first time I said yes for my place to be shown a stage came in and she told the office she woukd not change a thing in my apartment accept to turn on my electric fireplace and bring in fresh flowers for my vases. So I had a treat of having flowers from time to time. The stager set her own hours and just learned it from staging her own place and her friends and she made pretty good money part time. Sorry for the novel, now I want to go buy a rug too for the kitchen. The kitchen has little heat so a rug would add nice warmth too. Thank you for wonderful inspirations on a cold Virginia Saturday. Love, Rebekah

@@ActuallyAlli It is very simple to change out the entire outlet, and they are only a few dollars... just turn off the power at the fuse box and unscrew the old ones, hook up the wires to the new ones (Usually just 2 but possibly 3 wires), and screw them back up, takes just a couple of minutes and will definitely make the space look even better.

Any bubbles in the contact paper? Use a pin and prick a tiny hole. That will get rid of all the bubbles.

You are very talented at decorating and styling your kitchen on a budget. I did notice that you put more than a few holes in the walls that would have to be repaired before moving out. Would command hooks work to achieve the same look? Otherwise, great job!!

Spices are best kept away from humidity/steam. I wouldn’t recommend putting them above your stove.

Yes I learned that when my spices got sticky and ugly that I couldn't use them so now I have them in a cabinet away from the heat. And now I have some small decorations but I have to clean them once a week so they won't get sticky.

You mentioned you couldn't cover the countertops with contact paper because they are already coated with epoxy, I am very new at all this and I don't know what you mean by that. I want to cover my countertops with contact paper but they have something already, now I'm wondering if it's epoxy, how can I tell? And why contact paper won't work on top of epoxy? Thank you!
