Yes one of those step ladders/chairs for kids to help at the table. Get her to work! lol they make awesome kid friendly knives that toddlers can use to help out with.

If my installer did a job like this, that installer would no longer have a job. I'm starting to thing that these people in the comments have no idea on how to properly install a kitchen island. Nor know anything about fine carpentry. I guess some people watch a few DIY videos and think they're professionals.

I had to watch 5 or 6 videos before I got to yours and I'll just say I'm glad I came across yours. From start to finish it was perfect and I'll be mimicking just about everything you did this weekend lol. The butcher block was a great idea and looks great as well. Thanks.

Magnificent !!! On the hutch that hasn't sold yet try painting it white,run a black brush along some edges to make it appear distressed and put chicken wire in upper doors. The farmhouse look is such a hot commodity right now. Of course that means extra work. You're a wonderful, beautiful young lady !

Looks good. Next time try a shellac base primer. I learned that from my painter. It creates a hard base that won’t scratch and the cabinet paint will adhere 100% better. Very impressed!

Wow! You’re so gifted. I love it. No body would say this is just a stock cabinet but a high end and expensive one. Beautiful!!!

Glenda, the finished product is simply gorgeous. The black lower finish with that butcher block top and hardware is stunning. It looks like an expensive custom built or purchased piece. And your design and woodworking skills are just as impressive. But of course, it all required a supervisors direction. Although my husband does flooring,roofing painting, framing,windows,tiling you name it, he's never put in Cabinets by himself or countertops. Your video totally motivated me so thank you. What detail..... So many things she skipped to properly even mount it to the ground and the block also doesn't look like it was mounted properly. Probably not even leveled out.

Wow! I just did something similar for a kitchen island because I needed more storage. I'd definitely trim the end of the butcher to give it a more proportionate look. Love the colors, yours turned out great!!

This was a awesome transformation and I'm very inspired!!! On a side note I really liked the cabinet you had up against the wall. I would have kept it there.. but give it a make over to match the new island. You could add a butcher block inlay on the table top portion of that cabinet.. just a thought!

Wow! Turned out Great! Wise of you to leave the hang over counter top as time will tell if it is functional or if you prefer to remove some of the length. You know best what works well for you in your kitchen! Congrats on your Reno! Looking forward to part 2. I was surprised how much I like the black!

Your baby is so adorable! How she was saying “wow!” reminded me of my oldest when he was younger

Came out great!!! Nice way to customize it with all the trim. Good call in not cutting down the counter. You can always add a small stool to the one end in a pinch for more seating. Hoping all is well Glenda, Dirty Jersey out!!

This turned out great! Keep the full length of the butcher block and add a couple of shelves (box plus rails) on one end for your cookbooks!

Glenda, your video inspired me. I love your little one. I am a grandma and trying to do a little project at a time. I have hired people to help me, they charged $300, $250, and assistant at $150 per day depending on what they could do. I bought a house for most parts it needs updating big time and plumbing issues were a big surprise. It is so beautiful the colors you used for the cabinets. Mine is wood tone, yellowish cabinets in 1990s time! Good job Glenda and TY for your video.

Thank you for posting this! I have watched several DIY videos and I was taking away a few suggestions from them. You’re video, I get it, and it looks better than all of them and you simplified each step so I can do it myself. The only differences, it will be 90” wide x 35” depth (11” will be for seating). I want to paint it black but have been unsure about outcome, I know, without a doubt, it will be black. Oh, I have already ordered the butcher block for it, it’s golden teak. Once again, thank you so much for this! I greatly appreciate you! (Loved seeing your helper in action! ;)

My husband did the same for a home we had in NC. He did little more support on each of the sides and and the back and added wide trim. We also put granite on top when we replaced the other countertops. We did a over hang on one side and put 4 barstools loved it and miss it. Now we have a different home and no room for a nice island . Yours looks great !

Get some help . I been doing this over five years, it causing pain to the joint to the hand. U don't notice it right now, but u will later in life, get some help.
