DIY Joshua Tree Tiny House made of 7500 Bottles! (How to Build

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Check out Deek's Book HERE: www.amazon.com/Microshelters-...
Derek "Deek" Diedricksen takes a trip to Joshua Tree, CA to visit Cary Ezell, who runs not one, but two WILDLY unique desert rental homes. In the segment of the visit, we see Cary's "Bottle Rock" house, a small getaway home made of 7500 bottles (wine, champagne, liquor, and glass water bottles). Cary talks about the specific process of building with "Glass blocks", and shows the ins and outs of this edifice which took two years to create.
For fans of Michael Reynolds Earthships, the bottle house work of "Grandma Prisbey", and the Calico, CA ghost town bottle house.
To STAY at Cary's unusual/cool/out-there homes....

A chicken coop built of glass bottles would encourage egg laying year round even in the darkest and coldest of months ! Few things I want in life land a lake with monster flatheads and now I kinda want a large glass bottle chicken coop !

Hi could you please let us know the cement mix ratio. How much sand to cement and do you use any binders. I would love to use bottles in a cubby house. 🌸

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be There's a lot of bottles laying around in the world i guess im looking to fill a window or make a circle port window using the same concept maybe 🤔 cutting them down if its not to painstaking hmmm! The search must continue.

That isn't a New Thing. They have been doing this with Bottkes. There is one made with Whiskey and Wine Bottles on Calico Ghost Town on Barstow, California and one in Joshua Tree California. They Started in the Early 1900's. Look them up. They are nice.

Why does the guy keep saying how laborious the process is, as if it’s like the most laborious process of all. I would think the precision required of other building techniques makes it more laborious than glass bottles organically and artistically placed.

It's too small next to the bathroom toilet right there when you sit down...what if someone goes to the bathroom and you're sitting right there in the living room right next to the bathroom....the smell would be horrendous, I'm sure!!!! Not too smart creating that way!!!! I don't think he is so genius....It doesn't look like anyone should spend money to stay there because it's too compacted with the bathroom right up your noise!!!!

Man, I LOVE it! The color, the reuse, the recycling...all fabulous! Hoping it rides out a tremblor with flying colors. And thanks for all the tips of what exactly you used for the glass/'crete bonding. I would love to do this in the far north for a little art studio. No quakes, but holy crap COLD, which causes so much expand/contract...my old wood frame house pops so hard, it scares the goldfish! I can see this with a tiny wood stove just being as toasty as sin.

You can cut the bottles in half and tape them together with regular silver duct tape! Then build as normal with his mortar mix in between the bottles, and the tape never shows and your mortar material keeps it all together. Can't wait to try this!

ok bottle walls are fricken cool, i had a brain child (possibly ) while watching this- suppose you built a form using 2"x8" boards., laid the form out on level sand, placed your bottle bricks, rebar etc in the sand , then carefully poured the cement mix into the form IN ONE SWELLED FOOP! what if? you could then lift the wall panel into place no? just how i think as an ex drywall guy .... Peace out

What is that noise? the wind lifting the tin roof or what? While I appreciate the time and ingenuity that went into the bottle house and the bottles and light are amazing, The whole place looks like a post apocalyptic nightmare to me. It makes me feel sad for some reason. Maybe it's part desolate desert and part patina . Just not into rust, never been. You either love that stuff or hate it.
