    It pronounced "KA-NECK-KA-LON" 💙 also remember to pre-treat the dreads by soaking them in apple cider vinegar and warm water for about 15 minutes to neutralize the alkaline. There is a chemical agent on the hair that is a skin irritant that can cause itching and bumps so the apple cider vinegar should do the trick and you don't have to deal with that anymore. ☺

    @@twistedbeautycheyenne yea kinda lol but you can use essential oils to get rid of it lol. My biggest complaint is how scratchy my dreads are. I did the dipping in hot water. Over time washing helps some but not enough.

    Just a little friendly tip, if you soak the hair in organic apple cider vinegar before working with it it removes all the plastic coating build up and the nasty smell 😘✌🏼 I'm also lazy and will put a boiling pot of water on the stove so I can just dip in handfuls in at a time ☺️

    kā•neck•a•Lon.... respect. 🙅🏾‍♀️can•a•klon Tip-you can boil a pot of water and soak everything once you’ve made the whole batch. Faster and softer plus you get rid of some of the fusing and bonding chems that make them feel itchy.

    This is exactly how I made my first ever set. This method of heat sealing isn't very good and to boot it made the dreads hard and itchy. Was nearly impossible to sleep once they were installed.

    All synthetic/Kanekalon hair has a skin irritating agent in it that needs to be neutralized. You can soak your dreads in apple cider vinegar and warm water in order to strip some of the alkaline off which will stop itching and bumps from occurring.

    For me I could never wear kanekalon dreads because I got ret itchy splotches all over my scalp after a few days that wouldn't go away. That usually happens when you're allergic or have a very weak scalp that can't take the pulling. I just switched to wool dreads, and they worked fine since they're way lighter than the kanekalon dreads :) I definitely recommend to try getting a few installed on the back of your head to see if your scalp reacts after a few days. If it doesn't, you can safely put the rest in!

    @@ShadowRayne16 I did soak them in apple cider vinegar, however the irritation was still there afterwards and I went to a dermatologist who said the reaction I have is definitely an allergic one :) Happens very rarely, but I literally couldn't handle wearing them more than 4 days because it started itching and hurting like crazy. Since it worked with wool dreads, I now know that I am just allergic to kanekalon.

    Help i really like the idea of getting dreadlocks but I've been told it's cultural appropriation? It's not like I'm going for braided hair just synthetic colourful extension dread locks. Now confused

  • @Thconsciousness

    @Thconsciousness

    5 ай бұрын

    It’s not cultural appropriation. People who claim dreads are cultural appropriation unfortunately are not informed on the fact that various cultures used dreads and braids for protecting their hair or for decor. Multiple cultures including but not limited to (I don’t claim to know every culture): The Celts, Vikings, Germanic tribes, Greeks, African tribes, Inuits, Rastafarians, Aztecs, and I’m sure there are more. Unfortunately I don’t think the issue will ever be “settled” and people are always going to find something to complain about especially in America where race is such a sensitive topic and for good reason. However not everything that white Americans do is intended to “steal” or culturally appropriate from another culture. ✌🏼💜🌎
