Did Synthetic dreadlocks damage my hair | after 4 years

Hi my name is Em and I have been wearing synthetic dreadlocks for over 4 years now. I have been a model for Dreadshop and have worn over 46 different dread sets! I took them out now because I'm getting my real human hair dreadlocks installed in a few weeks!
But what is the damage after 4 years of synthetic dreadlocks?

Okay so she’s cute and sweet but all I could focus on was the extreme makeup highlighting on the tip of her nose 😂

Love how you modelled for those synthetic dreadlocks, especially the long ones that go to your waist.

Thank you for your tips they really helped. I have bought my synthetic dreads from Locs of Love & I kept trying to ask questions but didn't get much help. I have a Mohawk & I have thinner hair. I have single & double ended Dreads. I installed them myself but I installed them to tight. I had to cut them out of my hair after a few weeks cause I was getting big tension bumps & it didn't feel great. I put the double ended in the front & on top & I know now it was to heavy for my hair so will use single where my hair is thinner. I won't put them in so tight this time & hopefully that will help with that problem. Again, thank you for your tips, if I got tips like this first off, it would've been very helpful.

I’m waiting for my first set to come in the mail 😬 it’s only half a head and I didn’t want to fully commit by starting out with spending $500 vs $150 but now I’m questioning it!! I just wanted to leave room for the chance that I may not want them after all.

I'm making my own synthetic dreads (been doing this as a hobby for over 10 years, hardly an expert but I know my ways around it) and trying to figure out how to make a decent set for my very thin and fine hair that is in early stages of male pattern baldness. I always end up damaging my hair from wearing synthetic dreads, no matter what I do. But I'm trying to make an extra lightweight and soft set of dreads now, using much less fibre for thick, fluffy dreads to add volume without adding weight. So like a lot of air between the little knots, basically, if that makes sense. Like properly backcombed but just airy. I'll also keep them at around shoulder length. As too long will be too heavy. The dreads will probably be more fragile, but I'm taking my chances with that. I can always just re-seal them or re-backcomb them or whatever if they start to come undone. It just gets harder and harder to wear dreads the thinner my hair gets, and I now have to make so big sections that there's a lot of space between the dreads. But I take great care of my hair now, haven't dyed or bleached it, or used any damaging products for 2 years and even re-grew it from scratch. So, I feel like it's worth another try now that it's just about long enough to braid, but we'll see how it goes.

If u have alopecia of any kind, adding any weight, its the literal oposite for having healthy hair. Go with a doc, to check on what its a sickness, and what just genetics c:

I bought from dread shop.soooo good the double ended lightest blind is great but the single ended weren't very good in comparison to colour being same and they were just twisted. Can I exchange the single end for double ends ? And should I just call the shop!?

I just got a set from them recently and it's really not heavy!! I worried too, but love mine. I got the 55cm ones. The longer ones would probably be a bit heavier, but shouldn't be that bad!

I just got a full set of the longer ones. I had them in for 3 days then took them out because my back hurt. So yes it’s a bit of an adjustment to the weight. But I put too many on the back of my head and that’s why it hurt. So I’m going to put them in again soon but change up the placement.

its not only the chemicals in those dreadlocks it can also be the quality of how they are made which not fully backcombed or crotched or sealed whatever can effect the end results as well. but if you do purchase just make sure to do a ACV Rinse to help pull the chemicals off.It does take time and effort and research but making your own can really be a great learning experience if your like me and cant spend the $$$ on just one dreadmaker as there are soo many creative locticians out there lol. but again im not a licensed/loctician so my advice can be thrown out the window lol

Usually synthetic hair extensions only last 1 year, there is no need for maintenance because dreadlocks will be neat, nothing will tangle or fall out and will not damage the real hair, but if the extensions are made of real human hair it will stick together and all depends on the crocheting if you don't crochet well the hair come off easily. I myself have used synthetic hair and now this is real hair from my head, not real human hair extensions. The treatment for synthetic dreads is quite simple because the dreadlocks will always be neat, there is no need to crocheting the dreadlocks even though the texture is stiff and doesn't look like real hair , it's exposed to any light, it will be shiny. if the original hair is at least 1 month old, it must be re-crochet to make it neat, not like crazy hair.

Nose ring? Highlight? Either way...are you ok? Just bored? Hate your life? Feel like you're not attractive enough? Going online to belittle someone isn't going to make your life better. Find some adventure to liven things up a bit. Hobbies are always good to have as well. Also you're beautiful as you are. I hope things get better for you and you no longer need to pick on people to make yourself feel better. 🍻
