Wouldn't a check valve ( one way ) stop the water flow when the pressure is off. Seems like a lot a gear to move water

Hey Eric, I am getting quite frustrated with these ultrasonic disc under preforming and looking to upgrade to this misting system. I believe you may have covered this question in your workshop, but do you advise against this system for a 100 sqft fruiting room? If business does well, I do have the ability to add another 100 sqft down the road. Im concerned that the system wont work with only 2 nozzles, or it over saturating the room.

You might wanna check out aerosci. They make nozzles and systems that run on compressed air and create 10-20 micron fog. You also might want to check out some of the lower pressure pumps like procon, fluid o tech, or nuert, and using them with an accumulator tank. That would prevent any short cycling and also allow you to use more reliable, less expensive, lower pressure (290psi max) pumps and better nozzles like tefen or senninger. But honestly, I think you would scrap this for th aerosci nozzles if you saw them, or the quad or octo fogger. You won’t get a finer mist without going ultrasonic. Aerosci is pretty much the smallest droplet producing nozzle.

Hey, I don't know much about wiring, and am building this setup for patio misting. Can you update or post a wiring diagram?? Can you also let me know, some people recommend a check valve to prevent back pressure when you shut the pump off, is that not necessary with the solenoid valve?

I want Pump for 100 0. 3 mm nozzles to create fog mist how much PSI pump ihv to buy.

What is the part number for the "Surge tube". My pump vibrates the hose so bad. I need something to suppress it.

I was just wondering on the hose you used, at 1,000psi it looks like you are using a PU push fitting hose rated at 100-200psi., can this handle the pressure at long periods?

no they have ones rated for 1000 psi

Great video, for 8 misting heads, would the .13 GPM CAT misting pump be suitable?

Just curious, I run car washes for a living. Why don't you run the bypass from the unloader/ regulator back into the intake water before the shutoff solenoid. This way you aren't just getting constant water running or trickling out the bypass..... Instead that water is routed back to the intake of the pump. This is how all my pumps are connected.

To cool the pump head more. Its not much water loss but yes you can run it like that.

Eric, thank you so much for putting this video out!!! Are you controlling the pump with a humidistat, like an inkbird or are you on a timer? Is this 120v or 220? You are cruising right along! Not sure if you left yet, but stay safe......thanks for everything! One more thing, why did you chose the 1/2 hp over the 1/4hp, when the 1/4 has same PSI and gpm?

I went with the bigger motor with hopes it wont be loaded down as much. For a controller im using a short cycle timer

Will this pump be adequate for a 50' x 16' space with up to 6 to 10 misters?

Yes, but you may want the slightly larger .25 or .5 pump head

In terms of cost, compared to 1000psi built units, how much would I save about by building it myself?

it's around $600 in parts vs around $1k. Also I dont think anyone makes a .13 GPH model which is all you need for anything smaller than 300-400 sq ft

So one could theoretically use this system as a patio mister?

100% Absolutely yes. Just get a bigger GPH pump like a .5-1 gph so you can run a good 10-20 nozzles

So what pump and where did you get it ?

You commented about adjusting a regulator...is it built into the CAT pump? if I am using another pump, then is the regulator the same as an unloader?

Will this work for 5 minute on off cycle intervals?

yes it will work but if you can make the cycle longer the motor will last longer.

Hi. Great video as always and thanks for making them. That little black line has 1000PSI in it? How doesn't it rupture and the cpvc and particular filter side is all low pressure? If not, how doesn't that explode on you?

I would give CAT the manufacturer of the pump a ring and ask how well it works off a gravity fed tank. Otherwise you would want a small booster pump probably to get it up to 40-50 psi

So I have my pump all wired up and running but I have a lot of water coming out the bypass line. Does any one know why that may be?

Wow! The quick response time is amazing! I bought the bigger pump as you suggested. The 1CX050R which means it puts out 0.5 GPM rather than 0.13 GPM like the one in the video. I have six misters on a line that is about 48 feet long. I adjusted the pressure to 1000 PSI. When I was adjusting the pressure, I accidentally touched the contact on the pressure switch with my Allen wrench. The bypass line wasn’t leaking much prior to that. However, if I shut off the water, the pump shuts off so I think the pressure switch is OK.

with an aeromist .008 nozzle at 1000psi the average droplet size would be 6um

Hi Eric On your kit page the pressure switch has a pair of comments from the same person: IT WILL FAIL. I SPENT 3 HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. DO NOT USE THIS SWITCH. IT IS ONLY RATED FOR 1AMP AT 120 How has it been working for you?

It was working just fine for weeks, but you know what its not rated for 10A, I went and updated the Kit listing with a more heavy duty 10A switch. Funny it took 3 hours to troubleshoot when its literally the only switch lol

@@MyersMushroomsFarms I just wanted to comment. First thanks for the responsiveness. I did buy the new low pressure switch and do plan to install it. However, the other one (1Amp) was already installed so out of curiosity decided to test it as it was so flushed the lines, added the nozzles and powered it up. Works great and is amazingly low noise! Thanks!

What is the cost of the whole unit?

What do you think of these nozzles compared to a high pressure system as you built here? having a standard compressor already, this would save a lot of money to build out my humidification system. Any thoughts or have you looked into this type of system? kzread.info/dash/bejne/i2aAxrapZdXZirQ.html

Their nozzles are $60 a piece with a water flow rate of 0.03gpm not including the cost of the air compressor. I think their average droplet size would be slightly smaller though.

@@seanschriver1543 I'm not sure. You will definitely want to consider the noise of an air compressor which is considerably more so than a water pump. But I was just commenting on the massive difference in cost per gpm of the microfog nozzles compared to the direct pressure route.

@@aullvrch right, I hear you there. But I'm not as concerned with the cost as the finest atomization. My lions main has to have a clear plastic sheet draped over them to try and keep larger droplets from settling on them. Even then with my fans running, some of the humidity will be pushed under the sheet and condense on the sheet and drip down or enough of the larger moisture will consiolitate and condense on the LM and then I get brown spots or dead spots. Just trying to find the best of both worlds so I can run them with my other mushrooms. I don't know why I seem to be having this problem, I don't see others posting about it. But then again, I started out using a sling type unit from house of hydro and the switched to a 10 head float in a reservoir. But I noticed I have to change my res often as it seams to accumulate spore load from the fan blowing into it and pushing the fog out. I can't seem to win, lol😄

@@seanschriver1543 Interesting problem you have there. I'm actually interested in this misting pump for aeroponic produce, so I have no idea what the problem there could be? When it comes to a small droplet size for a direct pressure pump perhaps you could try using impingement nozzles?

Disapointed in your wiring, pros will never use electrical tape on wire nuts.

Also, accumulator tank after the pump with the electric relay solenoid after the pump, pump takes from a proper reservoir and therefore never dry runs, makes little to no drip as the solenoid after an accumulator at the highest PSI you need/want happens after at the regulator/solenoid setup. With pex/flexible lines you shouldn't get a water hammer though I did like your solution, also why it's dribbling after, though: Straight cut off at high pressure with a proper regulator made for such functions and shouldn't have a water hammer nor drip.

Lastly, I highly, HIGHLY doubt looking at the mist generated that you're getting 1000psi and rather were sold on BS labeling --looked about 120-160 to me. Send the model of your pump and I can confirm.

I'm guessing the lack of reply means you were correct on the pressure spec. Lol. Great Video, Sir. Out of curiosity are you U.S. based? If so, I'm guessing these mushrooms are for restaurants and not recreation. Lol. I was interested in your video because I'm needing a mister that is pressured by gas and is capable of misting an oil, not water.

@@JohnSmith-zn3js - I didn't have notifications on but he wasn't incorrect and glad he provided the model number as it does bring to light why there is also dripping being a plunger pump rather than a diaphragm pump. That said, with an accumulator and solenoid it shouldn't drip if you're running an accumulator that could handle that PSI to sustain pressure, it's not a bad setup with proper plumbing to avoid the water hammer.
