DIY Headache Rack!

In this video I build a rack for the truck. A headache rack protects the roof of the cab and the rear glass, is a cool spot to mount lights, and really adds to the overall hauler vibe.

Great build video! Hold on to that F-250, she's a great truck. I like the way you canted the rack 10 degrees to match the lines of the cab, nice touch. Keep it up, you're doing good work.

That's a real nice build I like the design the only thing I would have done different is brought the uprights all the way down and welded the lower cross member between them that way the flat bar for the bed rails would have cap the hole in the tubing and been a cleaner smooth look instead of having to cut a small piece and weld it but like I said nice design sturdy but not overkill

Love your idea. Why didn't you just cut the square stock for the 10 degree tilt before welding to the base bar? I would think that'd be easier than filling that huge gap no? I'm new to welding and love your idea. I haul firewood in my Tacoma and I'll be trying to make mine with a flat bar that extends into the bed so that I can mount it using the stock bed rails. On my '14 Tacoma there's no lip so I can't use the clamp idea and I don't use a toolbox either. I'll also make the bars a little closer, maybe use smaller square stock for the cross bars, and have it go all the way across to prevent any errant splits from damaging the rear glass. Perhaps some cardboard below the rack before you paint it? Poor concrete floor....... And ditto on the safety glasses and the ear protection. Safety first!

THE PROBLEM YOU HAD WITH THE TUBE FITMENT AND GAPS WASN’T THE CHEAP WHEEL LIKE SUGGESTED. SEEMS TO ME, YOU TRUSTED THE ANGLE MARKERS ON THE CHOPSAW TOO MUCH. NEXT TIME GET A PRECISION ANGLE (L shaped one) SQUARE AND SET THAT TO YOUR DESIRED CUT ANGLE AND USE THE SQAURE TO SQUARE YOUR BLADE TO THE CUT FENCE. TOO MANY OFF THE CHOPSAWS ARE ARE ALWAYS OFF BY A DEGREE OR TWO. You can get away with a small amount being off, but the more cuts you have the more drastic the 1-2 degrees off will be in final mock-up.
