DIY Gutters on a Budget!!!

If you can operate some basic tools and feel comfortable on a ladder, you can install professional looking gutters at only the cost of the materials.!
These are "k" style, 5", 16 foot long sections of guttering. All materials were purchased at the Home Depot.
Please understand that the aluminum used to make these gutters is thinner than normal gutter thickness used by most professional installers.
Note: For most roofs, 5" is sufficient gutter size. However, 6" may be more suited for some applications. Please research out your particular setup and make appropriate determinations.
Some notes concerning gutters.
-Make sure the fascia board is secured solid in place to rafter ends.
-Use plenty of hidden fastener supports, 16" spaced.
-Slope gutter to outlet for proper drainage...1/2' every 10' (about).
-Avoid silicone for seams, use butyl rubber caulk.
-Use flashing to make sure water can't get behind gutters.
-If drip edge doesn't overlap back of gutter, use flashing to direct water into gutter.
-Always ensure water will discharge away from house to prevent soil settling which could lead to foundation problems.
-Using the 3"x4" downspout is best to pass water from heavy rains along with leaves etc.
-Extend gutters past shingles by 1/2" or 1" to catch all roof water.

A good tight String line is best especially when working with a "lesser quality" or easily bendable material...you did a really good job explaining the whole process, as so many first time DIY'ers are on a tight budget..

It's because you live in a state with a Menards. They compete pretty hard, nearly every state with one has better pricing. Now it's not that exaggerated as he corrected, but savings of 2-4 bucks hands up fast with building materials.
