Why do you have so few subscribers and comments? You are fun to watch, clearly VERY into beer, and have wonderful info. Clearly an untapped resource on KZread. One day everyone will catch on.

Nice stuff, this would satisfy the temperature control void that was left after my fermentation fridge died. Sadly window units don't exist around here. And portable AC is not ideal for this. That is why I was thinking of getting a spare Compressor Condenser for the Car refrigeratorunits and just doing everything from scratch.

Worst case you could just make ice, fill up some 2 liters of water and throw a bunch in the freezer (if you have the space) and just cycle them. Same idea, just more steps.

I love the ingenuity of this project and a great way to repurpose an old AC and cooler. A couple of questions. Are you using a single Inkbird for the AC and the pump or two different Inkbirds? Two separate is the only way I can imagine. I expect you would want the cold water bath to have a set temperature that is many degrees below the set temperature for your beer. You would need two temperature controllers for that if I understand correctly. Also, any recommendation on a submersible pump?

Hey sorry it took some time to get back to you on this question. Your right, 2 ink birds for this setup. For the pump I dont have a recommendation since im just using the pump that came with my fermenter. But any submersible pump would do, it can be very under powered since its just moving water up a few feet.

If we need cooler temperature, do you think we can use alcohol instead of glycol ?

  • @TroubleBrewing

Im not sure! I would think you could, but I would double check the impact alcohol may have against the components that it would be in contact with.

How much watts of do you think this cooler cool? Lets day a PC drawing around 800 watts from the wall.

2 Questions...if you have multiple fermenters, you would just have multiple pumps in the ice chest correct? Also, are you going to make any more videos? Enjoy them very much.

Correct! One for each fermenter. Also I’m working on an update video for one of my older videos right now. Life kinda got busy with the kids so that’s why I’m not uploading on a schedule anymore. I may upload more in the future though. Happy you enjoy the videos!

How did you get the circ pump stay attached to the bottom of the cooler?

  • @TroubleBrewing

My pump just sits at the bottom. The weight of the pump just drags it down. Does your pump float?

I wish I had more room in my apartment lol not sure where I would put this other than on top of my keezer which will make it hard to get in/out of. Guess I will keep this in mind for when I have more room for brewing!

You can build these smaller if you can get your hands on a newer smaller AC.

This one can work to chill from the boil to the fermenter?

  • @TroubleBrewing

    @TroubleBrewing

Hey, yea you could hook this up to a chiller for the cold side , not sure when recirculating if the ac can keep up but you would have to test that.

Nice project for cheap! but your inkbird temp probe in the cooler is going to fail because it is not water tight and not meant to be put directly in liquid. Put a plastic bag or something like that around the end to prolong the life of the inkbird.

Thanks for checking out the video! So in my case I built it for under 50 but if you source a cheep used/free ac on facebook marketplace you can prob build around that $100 price tag.

@@TroubleBrewing Perhaps you can focus on clarifying your beers my friend, because an old AC that is mutilated to partially fit in a cheap cooler is not going to save you my friend. No wonder you have trouble brewing. I will subscribe to your channel for 5 years, 7 years max to see if it improves a little.
