IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please ALWAYS use resin with proper precautions including wearing proper PPEs (glove, mask, respirator etc) AND working in a well ventilated space. I recommend getting a hold of the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) info that every resin company has available to the public (by law). This has all the info about the resin you are using including the precautions you need to take and first aid care. Watch my resin safety video for more info: • RESIN SAFETY | Importa...

Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin to cast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

    This is a great idea! I am always so frustrated when I spend a ton of time on a piece of shrink plastic only for it to warp or not flatten correctly in the oven... This seems like a way safer method :) Thanks for sharing!

    Ah, same! Even if doing an original piece, making a sticker of it is so much simpler than spending a ton of time on it only to be ruined in the oven! I wish I'd thought of this at the last convention I made charms for...

    one more thing.... when applying resin to shrink plastic, it's best to lightly sand your shrink plastic before you apply the sticker and resin so that the resin has something to grip.

    But isn't it the role of the sealer spray ? Or does it have to be done as well even when using a sealer spray ?

  • @thecrapartistx

    @thecrapartistx

    9 ай бұрын

    @@rosigribouilli5399 a spray sealer is going to just sit on the shrink plastic and create a layer that will eventually peel off. When you stand the plastic you create tiny little grooves for the resin to sink into and grip creating a better seal. You may as well be putting a layer of liquid latex down between the sticker and the resin if you use spray sealer...

    Alternatively you can draw around the images in your art program after the images are scanned then just print out the outline that you need to trace so that you don't use up so much printer ink.
