The DevOps Roadmap for 2022 is available for free at devopsfordevelopers.io/roadmap One of the hardest things about learning is understanding how the different components work together. Using this guide, you start with a topic that interests or relates to you. At the end of the section, other related topics are shown allowing you to pick and choose your own path to DevOps mastery.
Great video! I'm happy that I've already taken on some of these steps, and the other steps will be good to dive into!

I’ve been working in architecture for years and wanted to get back into some technical work in current technology stacks. This is just the ticket. Thank you 👍

You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Great stuff Will! It's funny that some of us may already be doing these devops related tasks without even realizing it during our day to day jobs. Although I haven't dabbled in jenkins, many if us have worked with enterprise job schedulers with interdependent tasks. Or automated extraction of data from a website using selenium. Devops is the next evolution of the system administrator role. Great topic!

Right? I think a lot of us "do" DevOps without applying the label (and that's perfectly ok)
Dropping Gems bro. Be able to do these things and you're DevOps worthy fa sure

Hi Will, thanks for this. This is so what I needed. But kindly, where can I get the resources (website codes, databases, etc.) to perform these DevOps projects. Thank you in advance.

Hey! I use Google to find random projects to deploy. Searching for "javascript" "python" "go" or whatever framework you'd like to use plus "starter kit" or "boilerplate" usually produces good results. For the exercises in this video, the actual code you deploy doesn't matter too much, it's the process that is important. Recently, I've been using these: appseed.us/admin-dashboards/open-source
Great content! What do you think if i make a linux server using ubuntu/RHEL first(because I already familiar with it) then I make the arch/gentoo version?

The code used to build/deploy your projects lives in Github. When people ask for your github profile (or portfolio), what they are looking for is an active profile that shows activity and contributions to code repositories.
Omg I been doing all of these for years as web developer already except the container part. How can I get a devops job

Sure! Install VirtualBox www.virtualbox.org/ and create a virtual machine. Then head to Arch Linux and install it on the virtual machine: archlinux.org/ You can then use it for some of the other projects in the video.
Hey will, can you name some valuable certifications that we need for the next 2 - 4 years , Thanks.

IMO: prioritize skills over certification. You'll get much more out of your certification by following this approach. Think of it this way: if you don't know what an EC2 instance is, or security groups, or IAM policies. You are going to struggle with the AWS SA exam. You might pass, but you won't have that level of confidence the certification is intended to represent. It's the skills that make you in demand, not the certification. If you want to pursue certifications, I think the first one to pursue is Linux fundamentals like the Linux Foundation Certification. It's the core of what most of us do. Next is a certification from a cloud provider like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Bonus points for security certification and database. Don't forget to go deep on at least one programming language (though I don't know of any that have official "certifications")

Sure! Use what you have available. You can always upgrade later.
Could you please tell me the difference between cloud vs DevOps?
@DevOpsForDevelopers
2 жыл бұрын
Sure: Cloud is where your stuff lives. Typically you will either host your applications and servers in the cloud or in a physical datacenter. DevOps is the set of practices you and your team follow to deploy and manage applications. A similar analogy might be transportation: you can drive your own car (physical datacenter) or ride the bus (cloud). The DevOps analogy would be the rules of the road: don't speed, stop at stop lights, yield to emergency vehicles, put gas in the tank before it is empty, etc...

@@DevOpsForDevelopers Well is it true that Cloud Development is a part of DEVOPS Engineering? Please let me know that because I'm also planning to get into DEVOPS Engineering.
@DevOpsForDevelopers
2 жыл бұрын
Yup. DevOps is "how" you do it. Cloud Development is "where" you do it. For example, to build a web-based application you may choose to build it in a cloud provider like AWS. How you architect and integrate the cloud components like servers and databases and how you get the code from your workstation to the cloud is DevOps.
Any tutorial anywhere for 1st project??? Please ...
