DIY Cyanotypes - Making Cyanotypes (Sun Prints) on Fabric
Cyanotypes (also called Sun prints) are a photographic technique using a dye and a negative to create a positive image. The process was invented by British astronomer and chemist John Frederick William Herschel (1792 - 1871).
This technique is great for capturing gorgeous botanical images. I can’t think of a better way to create art from your home garden than to make sun prints from plants and leaves found in your backyard.
I sewed together six fabric prints and made a pillow. I posted a picture of the pillow in the Community tab. And as you can see from the video, this is super easy to do.
I am using fabric that I purchased from Blick Art Supplies. The fabric is already treated with cyanotype chemicals which simplifies the process for beginners.
