You could use the extra squares as pockets on the inside for your hooks! 😄

Jenna I just discovered you during an 8 week illness where I was mostly bed bound. I have a condition where that happens sometimes. I binged your relaxing videos and you inspired me to learn crochet. Because of you I was able to find a calming hobby I could do from the couch or bed that made me feel proud. Thank you so much 💚

This turned out great, Jenna. And I am not singing Jingle Bells with that color combo at all! Well done! Are you going to line it? That would be a good tutorial if you’re so inclined.

seconding this! I was wondering the same thing.
Jenna do you know what you are doing??? You are bringing back needle crafts. Woo Hoooo! I looj forward to watching you learn and become a better knitter, crocheter, seamstress. Than me. And i have been doing those crafts for about 45 years now. I am 58 years old. Started crocheting at age 6 knitting 8 and sewing in middle school. Im glad to see that young people are crafting again. I did these crafts pretty much alone. Your enthusiasm is boundless. I show all my friends your videos and you are opening their eyes... i couldnt do it by myself. But you sure can!!! I look forward to all your new projects. You are a ray of sunshine🌅👨⚕️ You are Awesome!!❤
I started crocheting just 2 weeks ago because of your channel and I absolutely LOVE it! Thanks for making all this fun stuff, especially this bag, wanted to try to make one like this!
I actually liked the unintentional scalloped edge, it looked like a flower, like a little tulip or something :) I am definitely making this myself! Too adorable!
PRO TIP to granny square crocheters: Crochet the individual rounds in batches, as in, crochet the first round of each granny square you want to complete, then crochet the second round on all of those squares, and so on. It's a much faster process because you can more easily memorize the rounds, and it's really fun to see the progress come together a little more quickly. It's also EXTRA satisfying to complete that last round on each square, bam, you suddenly whip up one square after the other ❤️❤️❤️

This is so cool, and a matching top would be so cute! Although I think it might be worth sewing a lining out of some scrap fabric for your bag, last thing you want is a hook or a needle falling through one of the holes without you noticing!
It turned out beautiful! I actually like the curves on the top, it makes it look like a flower🌺
Love it! You could even make a bunch of reusable grocery bags for produce and stuff! That would be soooo cool
highly recommend the cotton creme yarn!! its so soft and breathable great for summer tops (i actually was inspired to make a granny square top bc of you and i used this yarn!)

Turned out great! I actually really liked the wavy top, thought it was a cute design feature! Can’t wait to see how your granny square top turns out!
i love how you bounce between different topics in your videos, it’s so fun
Right now I'm making granny square and I love to watch your videos when I crochet.
I am literally starting to make my granny squares for my bag!! Damn… I’m on my second square… it’s a journey 😆😆

@artfromz1698 granny square I would recommend this youtuber I just recently learned how too do granny square and I'm determined to do a bag and do granny square stuff there so easy
I love the colors you used! You're always putting together great color combos.
I wanna make one of these SOOOOO BADDD and also love it alot, you're so talented💙 also this is the earliest I have very been to a vid before
I made a couple of crochet bags and used fabric bags for liners. I sewed the crochet straps onto the fabric straps so they wouldn’t stretch. I just used the blank ones in the craft section of most craft stores. It worked out great.
I'm sure someone has said this, but you can block the squares before you put them together to get that curve out of them. I'd just do it with a steam iron. It's so cute and the curves don't show in the end. I love that you can make them and put them together into something so cute and useful. Good work, Jenna
My personal crochet season is actually autumn cause its just giving me the vibe of a cozy home, drinking tea and yeah just crocheting
It looks beautiful Jenna! I don't think it's too Christmassy, and I love the vintage colors you picked! Also, we don't know for sure what dinosaurs did, but scientists predict their behaviors based on their features in the fossil record, the way those fossils were arranged in relation to other fossils, and how those features compare to modern animals :~) For example, the first dinosaurs you showed in your clip in this video are neck fighting like modern giraffes do to compete for mates! We don't know for sure if they did that back then, but since they were talllllllll animals that needed lots of muscles to lift their necks up, they might have used them as a fighting tool like giraffes do today :~D And the second dinosaurs you showed were all moving together in a herd because we've found big groups of fossils of those animals in the same place, sometimes even with fossilized eggs and nests!

This was very interesting, I appreciate your comment!
It looks so great! I think what will ultimately make the perfect square is if you block them even before you do the border, I had the same with my blanket and it keeps pulling crooked despite the border being added.
Seriously love your vibes! I’ve been crocheting since I was 13-14 years old I’ll be 30 this year! I love following tutorials and trying new things ❤

Just made one for myself, a slightly bigger one and really love it. I sew cloth lining inside too.
the capri cotton is soooo good they don't sell it anymore and it is amazing it crochets like butter i made part of a sweater out of that exact purple color and it was heavenly
everytime i watch one of your videos i get enough inspiration to make progress on my projects! looooove it
The colors give me cactus flower vibes and I love it!
I love the bag. I am going to make one for myself. Thank you for the tutorial.
I love this bag!! ❤could you do a tutorial on how you did the straps??

Im going to copy this bag but with patchwork squares. Love it.thank you.

Crocheting a baby blanket while watching Jenna crochet, life is good :))
That’s just lovely 🥰 . Love the color combo !
I've made an eight granny square shoulder bag, They are super fun!
Hey Jenna 6:00 Did you know that you can just crochet over the string left behind from the last row, by placing it along the edge? I don't have ends to sew in, since i do it this way, some times i alternate rows, if i have two threads, or directions, so one tail is going left and one is going right. Either way! Little tip for you, so you don't have as many ends to sew in! You can also do this when knitting! Just wrap the end, around the thread you are knitting with, for each stitch, so that it lays on the backside of the garment. I hope this helps! Love your channel! Literally watched every video on binge, endlessly inspired by you! I'm a three time heart surgery survivor and art has been a huge help for me.

I wanted to crochet such a bag for long - now I start it 👍🏻 It's perfekt to take my crochet stuff with me, but I will sew a lining to make it more stable. I will also make a matching needle book and a case for my crochet needles from grannysquares 😊 Thanks for this video 🥰
Jenna!! Im doing a granny square project currently and and I’m so excited to granny square with you ^__^ Love the bag
I agree. You need some pockets on it which could be just another granny square. If it were my bag I would put a pocket on one side and a pocket on the other side and then I would do the same to the inside so I got a total of four pockets for all of the extras that we carry around. Very cool.
I love that bag Jenna. You did an excellent job.
Seriously I was never really interested in making granny square pieces until now! This bag is so fkn cute!!
Wow I really admire how you make those colors work! Nice project, Jenna! I also made a granny square bag for summer and had the same issue that you had with the top looking weird. How I think I fixed it was first doing a row of sc and then the rest was hdc I hope that helps for your next project! Love your vids💕
OMG THATS SOO PRETTY!! Now I want that!!❤️❤️
It’s always crochet season when you’re with me😀👍
I loooove this video, thank you Jenna, you’re awesome!! 💗💗
This is exactly what I’ve been looking and for the exact same reason! I want a crochet bag made by me to put my crochet supplies in when i go out
omg I need this tutorial, it's so pretty!
I know you made this bag a year ago, BUT here I am posting a comment in the hopes that you'll see this tip for making granny squares go faster: When I'm making multiple squares with several color changes, I assembly line them. For instance, if I were making the squares you used for this bag, I would do all the white centers, then all of the golden/brownish color, then all the red, etc. I feel like it makes them go faster because I'm not changing colors every five minutes. And yes, I weave in the ends as I go. LOVE your energy. I'm so glad I discovered your channel because you're a joy to watch and an inspiration for this old crochet veteran. edit: LOL yeah, ok, so I should have watched the entire video before I posted that tip :)
Love it and the colors you chose. I love the rain too. 💕🌞
Great colors, wonderful result. 😍😍😍 Thanks for a fun video!
Omggg I’m so obsessed with it , definitely gonna try one myself 💞💞 Love it!!

Awesome, that turned out wonderful! You are very talented and creative.
when you said "it´s like supposed to be the best crochet book ever" i just knew that it was Rose Svanes book. I myself is Danish, and me and my mom love her book, she´s so talented! It would be so cool if you made a video where you follow one of her patterns!

Pernile of course! But there is an important difference with some UK vs USA terms (UK dc = USA sc, for example). So, is the Danish dc the same as a UK dc or a US dc? That is my question.

Omg Jenna yeeeesss you finally did a granny square bag that's awesome 🥰
Finally... I was waiting for this the whole week!!!😍 (You are the best)
hi Jenna!! I love your videos and your can-do spirit :) I would recommend sewing a lining or always keeping your project notions in a little additional pouch or pencil case in your bag! One time I was going to teach myself how to crochet and I put my stuff into a knitted bag, but I lost the crochet hook because it fell through the stitches of the fabric ☹️ I just don't want that to happen to you when you are using your awesome new bag 😊😊
So cute!! Love the colors!!
Soooooo cute! I love the colors! A monochromatic green with a pop of color would be 🤌🏾
I think the bumps gave it personality!! Great job girl!!! Love it❤
Omg, i absolutely need that book too!! I've been learning Danish for like 3 months now because I plan to move there for college in 1.5 years and this is just perfect... also it's very pretty AND useful, sooo

It turned out so cutee!! I’m definitely gonna make it one of my next projects! I’ve made a crochet bag before and I definitely recommend lining the bag with a matching color fabric so that the stitches don’t stretch , I didn’t realize that when I made my bag and the stitches stretched wayyy too much especially since I was wearing it a lot :)

I loved the bag I would like to see the patern for the granny square ASAP cuz I can't wait to make mine 💌
If you work treble crochets into the 4th round corners it will fix the rounded shape of the square!

I just got some yarn so I can make this! I’ve been stealing tote bags from my sister so I’m very excited to Crochet this!
i made my sister one of these a day ago finally making me one too !!!!!
You made a really intimidating project simple. Thank you. To prevent the inside of my bag from fraying, I’m going to sew some cotton fabric inside as a liner. Perhaps add a pocket for keys
