How is the size determined? Does it need a sweat band or any vent holes? It is a great looking hat.

Probably a late comment, but yes add those things. Should be simple measuring and stitching for the sweat band, vent holes are your choice of grommet. Unless this is a dress hat, not a work hat, in which case no, but add a silk lining (and I would still add a sweatband, just make it pretty with some tooling and gold paste (SLC sells it)

Do you think box stitch on the crown would work? Or do you do it this way as it is more waterproof? Ps. I'm almost finished a pouch pattern I bought from you and it has been so much fun as a first project

you can give it a go, i just liked the look of this stitching better. Glue the leather along the stitching and they will both be waterproof

I think you should relocate to India or the Middle East. Such a marvelous piece of work deserves to have an International auidence.

for hats, generally 5 oz but i will go up to 6 oz if there is cross stitching involved

Vegetable tan leather. It can be shaped while wet. I’d like to know how to get that perfect curl in the brim?

Tony, what ensures that the holes of the top part of the hat match up with the holes at the top of the sidewalls? Do you have orientation points, or is it simply that you use the same size stitching punch? However, even using the same size stitching punch doesn't ensure that all holes would line up, as the circumferences are different.

If I were to wet the hat before dyeing it would this pattern work to make it have those dents on top of most "cowboy" style hats?

You can wet mold before or after dying, just know that after you will have some residual dye on whatever you used to apply the water (sponge, towel, whatever) even though it shouldn't show on your leather if you properly dyed and dried it. You will probably need to finish it after that with some top coat to give it more of a water resistance so you don't lose your shape.

Did you use a laser machine to cut the black leather and make the holes. I noticed that the holes are oval , not round, and the shapes are perfect :)

If you using a laser, make sure it is a non-chrome tanned hide. The vaporized chrome can hurt you.

@@evgeniygordey7724 В любой программе, поддерживающей экспорт в pdf. Ни одна программа сама ничего не нарисует. Рисует и высчитывает всё человек. Вот автор данного видео сделал такие выкройки и теперь продаёт их. А видео - это иллюстрация или инструкция по сборке...
