    I just ordered this system as it looks like the best all in design out there. The supplier was very quick to respond to my questions and got the product shipped out fast. I have been using a basic pond filter which makes a huge mess of the water when you clean it so you have to drain the chest as well. This should eliminate that and with a much smaller footprint. I'll give an update once I've gotten it up and running and have a chance to use it for a bit.

    Every time I watch a new video about this setup Im amazed. Its so simple but yet so effective. Love it. I have a little off-topic question tho about sanitation, I last heard you used Peroxide to supplement for sanitation, do you still use that with this setup and ozone? Im having an issue where I shock my plunge with peroxide (about 2.2oz) in the morning and I run my ozone for about an hour / 1hr 15min a day. When I check the peroxide levels the next morning, its at 0. Been like this for about 2 weeks now. Cant get the levels to stay. My water is still crystal clear, PH is good and ive changed my ML filters already. Is this normal? and what level should I try to keep the peroxide PPM at? I appreciate all the help!

    Awesome work! I'm using a similar system with Ozone, but I've been told that inhaling Ozone is pretty bad (basic rule is, if you can smell it, it's too much) how do you go about that? Thanks!

  • @APEX.86

    Mine is in the garage, so it's easy to avoid the area when ozone is running. As long as you leave the lid closed, most stays contained in the freezer. Still some will seep out though. Another plunger did some testing and found that the air inside the freezer can stay high in ozone for many hours. So, when you first open it, avoid taking a smell and give it some time to dissipate.

    I don't have the 3d printed base on the pump and I'm finding that when all connected together, the filter is lifting out of the water on it's own and won't stay down in the water. Is the 3d printed base required to hold everything in place?

  • @APEX.86

    @APEX.86

    The base provides a lot of stability, because without it the bottom of the pump is curved and has the cord protruding on one side. I'm not sure what filter housing you are using though, and other details about your setup. So, it's hard to say for sure.

    So with this cord keeper, that will allow me to run the ozone tube out of the freezer, without having to cut the trim to make space? The lid still comes down on top of the cord keeper and creates a tight seal?

  • @APEX.86

    @APEX.86

    Ай бұрын

    Yes, and no. It will really depend on your specific freezer geometry. The cord keeper primarily organizes the cords, holding them in place, and allows a better seal with the soft freezer lid gasket. There is still a good chance that hard plastic parts of the freezer can pinch the ozone tube shut. My freezer does this on the angled face of the freezer's rim, and has another offending part on the lid. So, I heated a small metal socket and used it to bend a divot into the rim, and I cut a very small chunk out the lid. You best bet is to make a "snake" our of clay, the size of your ozone tube, lay it over the rim, shut and open it, and see where the pinch points are. Then you can plan on how to open them up.

  • @jschultzf3

    @jschultzf3

    Ай бұрын

    Yeah that makes sense with the clay. But the lid itself shuts over the cord keeper and is sealed? So that effectively eliminates the need to cut off part of the trim for the ozone tube. I understand I might need to finagle with other parts on the inside that pinch the ozone tube. Super interested in ordering this, but I just want to make sure I’m understanding the lid over the cord keeper correctly.

  • @APEX.86

    @APEX.86

    Ай бұрын

    @@jschultzf3 Yes, the gasket on the lid has plenty of give to deform over the cords/tubes, but it can't change direction fast enough to seal well. The cord keeper adds almost nothing to the total height, but gives a gentle curve that the gasket can seal against.

  • @APEX.86

    @APEX.86

    24 күн бұрын

    That's correct, and it does make sense. I'll explain. Pumps like these are designed to push against a restriction. If you put that same restriction on the inlet, the pump efficiency drops much more. As the restriction increases (like your main filter clogging) the pump will eventually cavitate in the inlet, and this can damage the pump. These particular pumps are designed for use in ponds and can ingest a significant amount of debris without damaging the impeller. In my system, there is a high flow pre-filter on the pump inlet. This catches any larger debris, like hair, which could eventually tangle the impeller, without imposing a significant restriction on the intake. From there it pushes through the much more restriction main filter. This setup works very well. Over 800 kits in customer plunges and zero returns!
