DIY Closet Door Makeover on a Budget
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Last week we upgraded our interior doors and this week we are upgrading our closet doors. I am amazed by the before and after of these doors. We did not want to buy all new doors for our closets, so we patched the old doors, added trim, gave them a fresh coat of paint, and installed new hardware. What do you think?
Thank you for watching and hopefully you found the video helpful!

Thank you!! It’s so exciting to see the house transform with every project
Very nice work! I like the squared handle and as a guy with big hands that handle would be easier to open and close. Also clever hack to hide the track to keep the closest doors from swinging.

Thanks so much! We also really like the grey/beige color paired with the black hardware. Gives a really nice contrast!

@@kellycincotta3547 We have done several videos on the painting of the home if you're interested. The wall color is Dove White and the trim color is Urban Putty - hope that helps!
Turned out great. Thanks for sharing

You need to build yourself a outfeed table for your table saw, my dude.

I would love one, but I don't have room for one in the garage just yet as it's not a dedicated workshop
Wow I love the transition ao much ! I am convinced to do the same with our closet doors. The only question I have is my cloaet doors feel so tight and don't know what to do to make the room for the thickness of the trim so the door can pass each other without rubbing.. this is what really stops me from starting this project😢 is it the different rolling hardware that gives you the extra room for the trim?

Thank you! We had the same issue so that is why I only used 1/8" eucaboard for the trim. If it is still too tight you can try finding alternative hardware that offsets the doors further apart
Did you need to change the top door tracks mounted to the frame to account for the added thickness of the doors after adding your new shaker trim pieces? I'm looking at my doors that are similar to yours and thinking that there wouldn't be enough space to add trim pieces. Thanks in advance for your expertise! This is such a helpful DIY!

Great question! We had enough room already but installed new door track wheels cause the old ones were worn down. We only added an 1/8” of new material so you should be fine. But they do sell larger offset brackets to give yourself more room
Maybe use a router for the grooves.

Good idea! I considered it but was worried the door wasn’t thick enough to fully support the router base.
What color is that?

It’s Urban Putty from Sherwin Williams 😁
Nice video where can I get the parts to make my closet door to a slide door

Thanks! You find the hardware at most hardware stores or you can buy it online
Hey quick question. Why didnt you just use the router to cut the bottom track instead of using the circ saw?
@GoldenKeyDesign

That is another great option! I just felt a bit uneasy since the router base would only have a few inches to rest on and I was worried it would tip during the cut
