    I made my own late last night using a small mortar and pestle. I got it down to a very fine powder, but I had to work at it for long time. Fell asleep once. Woke up pretty confused, but kept at it anyway. Cuz snails are worth it. 😎

    I use a coffee grinder, it's fast and does a great job grinding up the shells fine. I bought a cheap grinder for the job, you can pick them up at a low price. Also, microwaving the shells works instead of baking in the oven.

    I found I can get a really fine powder using an old blender then sifting out the bigger pieces and blending them some more. I keep an old medicine jar full and add more when it starts getting low. I also use it for my birds mineral block for added calcium as well as my snails.

    Thanks for watching! There are a few various ways it can be used. How much to use depends on how many snails you have and how fast they consume it. I would start with a small sprinkle in the tank and go from there. And it can be added to snellos too in almost any amount. Thank you again 🐌💜

    These are chicken eggshells with the membrane left on and dried out in the oven as shown in the video. So far, I have used it in 2 snello recipes as well as a sprinkle in the babies breeder box and they all go super crazy for it. 🤷‍♀️ seemed to work for me, but I'm sure everyone has their own way. Thanks again for watching Diane 🐌💜 I appreciate you being here!

    I suspect the reason most people say you should remove the membrane is because if there is any slight trace of moisture left when you grind them they are liable to encourage bacteria and mould whilst in storage. As long as your drying process is good and you have removed every trace of liquid you should be fine.

    Hello Lav i used calcium carbonate in my aquarium with snails and betta frogs and guppies and pictus cats. i added a tablespoon directly to my tank. it turned it white and i freaked out and did a 50% water change. will the calcium carbonate hurt my fish or frogs or pictus cats? and will it hurt my water equilibrium?

  • @LavsSnails

    @LavsSnails

    2 жыл бұрын

    How much to use would depend on what you are using the calcium powder for at that time. As I mentioned at the end of the video it can be used in snellos, calcium blocks, or even just a sprinkle of a little bit into your tank. The amounts will vary. If you meant how many eggs to use, again that would depend on what the intended use for the calcium is. The more calcium powder you need the more eggshells you would need to grind down of course! Thanks for watching!
