omg, are you the real miraie? The osu god? Actually a huge fan of your channel and have even been using your Osu! skin for like a year. Hairdryer would work, but I would recommend you would need to heat it for much longer as it doesn't get as hot as a heatgun. I would also let it cool then heat again. Btw. please get in touch, would love to send some cables your way!

This dudes so chill I love it. Great video
you're so chill, this is very cool also thank you for sharing your experience to teach us !
Hey man i just wanna say that this tutorial was really helpful! Just did my first coiled cable this week and you were right about allowing yourself to repeat it multiple times. The first time i did my cord it came out really loose and messy because i only heated it once for around 20 mins. Then i decided to re-do it and this time, i heated it twice at 30 mins each time (I used a hairdryer so it needed more time to heat). But it came out great afterwards!
Been an awesome night of following your tutorials. My first cable works! The coil is cooling now, last step is to add the YC8 connector. and we're done!
Hey man, great video! Supporting this channel!
Hey thanks for making these videos! You put in a lot of effort and it shows.

Thank you man for the tutorial..new sub here!
u just earned a sub. amazing on my setup! thx bro
I really appreciate that vid. It saves me money and it will be alot cooler if the cable was made by myself. Only thing missing is a drum stick, I even have enough cables to practice.
man this is super helpful. always liked the custom coiled cables, but they are super expensive in shops! but I guess you pay the work that went into it, haha! the cables, connectors, etc. on their own do not cost much, but factor in maybe stuff like soldering iron, extras, working hours etc. and then this is not cheap anymore in principle, although if you are good to go and just have to buy the "ingredients", then you can certainly have it a lot cheaper opposed to commercial ones. I think it will take some time until I am gonna make mine, since I have to stock up on said soldering iron but also other helpful tools (I do not own a heatgun or hair dryer... yeah, I let my hair dry on its own, weird...), but after that gonna look for some great parafilm, cables, connectors, heatshrinks and make me a beautiful custom cable. This is the perfect tutorial for that!
Master piece.
Thanks , those materials are hard to find , it's good to have some of them in one place.
thank you for the tutorial.. i made 2 custom cable..cheers mate!
Nice work, LOVE that you used drumsticks haha

Thanks for the tutorial. BTW if you stretch the electrical tape while applying it it sticks better.
when i get my cable i'll do this because this video seems easy with the steps to do
I have the exact same heat gun in yellow 😭 thanks a lot for the tutorial!

can you please do a TRRS diy cable guide, there is none! awesome videos btw
this video is so scuffed, but it helped me. i gave a like thank you
that looks so dope
The effect of the binder clip to fix wire is good
nice tutorial man....
man you make that look pretty simple, question: I have a cable from Asceny do you think it would work with this method?
Awesome video! Can you do a video on how you do the color change in the coil? I've noticed you are not using heat shrink for the transition. If you are using heat shrink is it just on the bottom of the coil and we can not see it?
You should also do a tutorial on how to reverse the coil, that’s how it becomes stretchy right? Lol

Just reverse the video too
Subbing because you’re amazing!
Think this would work on a pre-made cable like the cord on a razer mouse? This kind of reminds me of making coils for cutting chainmail rings.
Great video. Gonna try it out. How would you get a right angle after the coil? Do you tape it like that or have to bend it after?
I think I'm going to do this to one of my KDBfan cables ( I have a few), and do like a 3 inch coil on it. I have a heat gun too because I play hockey. So I don't even need to buy one. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a lot!
Hey bud, do your revers the coils? Or do you let it so when it’s of the drumstic??
Hey, I'm thinking about trying this out, but the only techflex I can find where I live basically covers up anything underneath it due to its thickly woven nature. Is the techflex necessary or can it be left out without any further problems? Thanks so much for this fantastic video!
cool vid. Didnt know you could do that.
Okay, after maybe a dozen tries, and going through 3 techflexs, i FINALLY got it down. I kept focusing on wrapping it tight, since that's what all the vids focus on, and as someone who trains their grip regularly, and can deadlift 400lbs with no straps, and not even using a hook grip, i didn't understand what i was doping wrong... Well, it was the HEAT. You have to cook the shit out of these things. Practice with some scrap pieces to see how close you can get before the techflex starts melting/burning. And once you find the correct distance, just lay your heat gun/hair dryer on the ground (assuming you have concrete/tile and not carpet or something flammable..), positioned the correct distance from coil, also on the ground, turn on the heat, and leave it on one spot for like 2 minutes- then rotate, heat- rotate, heat -rotate,heat -rotate, heat, and then move down a cm or so, and heat again, with 4 rotation per section, and wallah! I have a dope cable now.
One thing I didn't noticed or may have missed, but what heat do you set it your heat gun to or temp do you advise to stay within? I know some newer guns have dials where you can change it and then there's guns that are basically set to low & high, what do you use or recommend?
Thanks :)
Awe man i want that swuirtle steup. Super clean bro. Love the work. Def gonna try to do my own. Do you know where to buy the smaller connecters that are like aviator?
hey i know im late to this video, but i was wondering if it would work if you just sleeved it with paracord? or will the paracord melt from the heat of the heat gun? Also thanks for making such a great video
Could you do this to a coax(tv aerial)cable? How long does the cable stay coiled? Great vid👍👍
Did I want this video? no. Am I interested in this video? no. Did I watch the whole thing? yes.
How long does the coils last? Do you have any advice on lengthening the time?
To anyone who is interested. You can also bake your cable in the oven between 90-100°C for around 30 min and let it cool down or even "quench" it in the freezer. But let it dry after taking it out of the freezer before using the cable (condensation).

And then it’s ready to eat!
Do I have to use a sleeved cable? or just a regular braided cable like the GK61 cable is fine?
I've been trying to find out about doing this on extension cords so my standing desk power bar contains itself while sitting and springs to fit when raising my desk, does heat ruin the integrity of a cable?
Hello Cruz , just a little question... what type of cables can we use to do this ? Do they have to be very soft?
Hi Cruz need your advice, I have been following your steps but my coil is unraveling, heat it up for about 2 mins per half foot. Am scared to melt the techflex if I go slower and closer to heat gun
Thanks for you videos, and site....Question, since you mention Techflex being susceptible to melting during the coiling process if you arent careful, can you add the techflex after the coiling process?
@hasekaki
3 жыл бұрын
No you would definitely mess up the coil shape doing that. If you’re using a heat gun just don’t put it too close and watch it carefully, I used a hairdryer and it worked great
Do you know where you could get a soldering tool thing that’s pretty cheep cuz the heat gun reminded me about a soldering tool
what's the usual straight:coiled cable ratio (for a 1/2" coil size for example)? in other words, how much straight cable does it take to make a certain length of coil?
Nice
Also i want to ask.. Is YC8 Connector the same one like for XLR mic connector?
I did the same technique with a hair dryer and now my cheap mechanical keyboard transformed to a razer

Electricians tape is also called friction tape. When wrapping it around stretch it a bit. The glue will keep it from sliding across itself to loosen. It will be tighter with less tape if each winding is made with stretched tape. Uses less tape also.
@anonymouseniller6688

Does that really work? You are talking about the pvc electrical tape right? from experience they seem to uncoil eventually with all the glue sticking on the top surface whenever I've stretched and wrapped the tape around a wire.
@720MotorWorks

@@anonymouseniller6688if you want a good wire tape, use Tesa. They have plenty of tapes for both interior and exterior use, and the adhesive lasts years. It is the same tape used by German auto manufacturers for their vehicle harnesses. Probably many other applications, but I’m a BMW tech so that’s where I see it mostly
Loved this video. I've been looking to buy or make cables for Astrophotography. Cable management is tricky and coiled cables could be a solution. I'm looking to make a USB A to USB Micro B cable and it needs to be USB 3.0 Is that possible?

Ha's to be, ore your gonna burn your cables.
Heating in a toaster oven on a stand/rack so you don't touch the coil to the metal would work well too and provide consistent heat.
Is it possible to achieve to a decent coil without using techflex. So just the wire sleeved with paracord?
Do you offer braided cables as well?
Is there a difference if you heat up the coil then quickly cool it by let's say putting it in the fridge compared to heating it up and letting it cool on it's own?
