No. 😭 I was so in love with your first design and it killed me when you painted over it. I was just in awe over all of your original little squares. The second was nice, but a very differet vibe.

I’ve been agonizing about what I could stick to the backsplash without much expense and with as little effort as possible. I couldn’t find anything I liked that was easy to do and didn’t require buying miter saws, glass cutters and better health insurance, but NOW! I’m not artistic but I think I could do something interesting with paint and tape! And I have tons of paint and can easily afford more if needed! Thank you. I am so sold on your videos and your shared experiences! ❤🎉

The first one would be gorgeous in a smaller area that we don’t see every day. You made the right decision.

I shouted “No!!!!!” when you painted over your first design! That takes moxy as well as confidence that you could make design Number 2 look great too, which, of course, you did !! Color me impressed!!

Hands down the first one, for me. Looked so good in that kitchen, so light and fresh. I liked the effect of the line-less borders on each 'tile'. Thanks for the creative easy ideas Caroline!

When you painted over the first one, my mouth dropped open so fast that I could have caught a herd of flies.I am going to the hardware store right now to find that paint color.You are amazing!

Yes I totally agree with the silent zoning out, it is actually a form of meditation. It has done wonders for me and helps to refocus and rethink things better. I loved the first "wallpaper", it reminded me how wallpaper used to be handmade and hand drawn back in the Victorian times.

I Loved the first design, And I Absolutely Love The idea! Not only would you save money but you’d have more control over how it turns out and a fun memory/ connection to the design. My jaw dropped when you painted over it.

I preferred the first, Boho design. But I could imagine after a year or two .. nice to know its so easy to change!

The organic stripes, for the win. But you can get crisp lines, if you want them, by putting a coat of the ground color on first. That way if there's too much bleeding for you, you can't tell, because it's the same color. Then the edges are sealed up and you throw your stripe color over it. Then, you do the peel

Dude this was my first video and I was so taken by the concept of impermanence and how well you navigated that. Interior D is just so life in a nutshell. Have been watching other videos and here for it all. 🫶

another tip for crisper edges is to first paint the tape with the original color, in this case white, and then with the darker color. The bleeding happens with the white color and less with the darker color :)

Aside the gorgeous designs, I'm really impressed how you can place the tape parallely without marks 😅 The blue design is absolutely stunning, the pink one is really cute. ❤

Loved the first backsplash. It was so fun and unique

I like the second one, at first I was scared because of all the stripes, but it came out really classy.

I was only just starting to bond with the first one after all the hard work you put in when you were like "yea and then I just painted over it" at which point I felt 😮😳 but the second one was also nice 😁

Haha you are not alone, apparently this has caused a lot of uproar 😍

Tip for spacing out lines evenly! Cut painters tape to size you want between stripes, (two even pieces). Stick pieces together together sticky side in. And use your movable "guide" to make striping evenly, so much easier!

But that's why she mentions all the time about "rental friendly" things you can do! And, often times, landlords WILL allow you to paint, as long as you're willing to paint it back to some sort of neutral colour before you move out! I'd say give it a try! Don't let yourself be stopped by renting (: You'll most likely be able to do SOMETHING!

First one, by far...loved it. Interesting about the zoning out. That explains alot. I wash dishes, staring at the neighbors shed through my window, or do it at night.......I usually have a few days worth, so it is zoning...I make up songs, poems, ideas all the time when doing the dishes, or just waiting for microwave or oven to finish. I thought maybe there were some wierd magnetics that pull ideas out...rarely do I remember the songs by the time I get to the recorder, sometimes i write them down, if I can find paper and pen. I did subscribe on the this is why your home is a mess.

I just found your channel and have started binge-watching. If I had my choice of the options you gave, I want neither, bc I want both! Keep the boho backsplash in the square and frame it and the rest of the room with the stripes! Best of both worlds!!

over the second pattern, I felt inspired thinking about how it might look if there were little various designs panted over the stripes in the original white wall color, like a reverse of the first pattern you did but in the striped shapes

Second = favorite. It seems to lend itself to so many possible style choices. Boho and Beyond.

Both great ideas but I loved the free form boho paint design! You are very creative and I Love your quirky sense of humor.

I used to do mindfulness and meditation and now you’ve reminded me that an opportunity to meditate and/or be mindful is there every day in the mundane tasks. I'm annoyed that I actually prefer the stripes over the amazing hand painted style. Nearly died when you painted over all that hard hand painted work, but DAMN did it get your 'just have fun and don't be serious' vibe across!

I liked the striped one better. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was the “before” and almost didn’t watch the video because I thought “Oh no! I liked the before better!” I actually thought it was wallpaper. This would be a great alternative to wallpaper in my bathroom!

Wow great job. I liked bth designs but the second looked brown to me. When you said it was blue I think that would be my preference for a backsplash. I have a kitchen in a place I just bought that needs a complete renovation but in the meantime I’m going to try something like this.

I liked the first one since it was lighter and brighter, as well as had more contrast with the styling items! Both are gorgeous though.

Beautiful! In regard to what you said about the quiet, solitary mode of working… I'm reading a book by photographer Sean Tucker (he's on KZread) called "The Meaning in the Making," in which he talks about our drive to create art (of any kind, including music) in order to make beauty and order out of chaos. He also talks about the importance of regularly taking quiet time away from the hustle and bustle--for the neurological and spiritual rejuvenation that goes on in our brains at those times, that fuels us for more inspiration. Also looking (and reading and listening to) other artists' work (which is why we enjoy watching your videos!). I highly recommend the book.

I loved them both 😊 but I love the wall shown at 0:00 to 0:05 of your video. Can you please add a tutorial for that or at least tell me how you think it’s done? Keep up the amazing work 💗

A good way to prevent bleeding is to put the tape up, paint first with current wall color and then go over with new color.

I am back!!!! Ready to paint in abstract designs but here is dilemma. I used a peachy base paint& need your input on design colors!’I want to do half-n- half of design and stripes. What color did you use for stripes? Or what colors would you suggest for my mix( 1/2 abstract, 1/2 stripes)?

You inspire people to be more creative with their space, and in their life, even in little things. You’ve definitely inspired me. Seriously, I took out my dusty arts and crafts supplies and started making stuff, create and not be afraid of “mistakes”, or as Bob Ross would say “happy accidents”.

The first one

I LOVED the first one, so creative and fun. . . imho, you should have done that one second. It actually hurt me to see you paint it out. The second one took no talent, and could just as easily have been wallpaper. No excitement, no thrill, no verve. However, it did show me that bleed behind the tape can work. I'm kind of a perfectionist, and I would have been worried that the bleeds would not be consistent. Gosh darn it. Easy come, easy go? No, beauty come, beauty go. I still like you, but wow.

It was so sad when you painted over the first design, it was beautiful 😭 I almost dropped my bowl of snacks 😂
