@@ShaeDaily I'm a property manager too for 5 buildings and it takes very little for light colour grout to discolour. We always have our units professionally cleaned when tenants leave and not many places do that but I'd laugh (inside, not at them obviously) if a tenant asked for a rent discount because they cleaned a few grout lines AND I'm a renter too !.

I did a lot of these things in my last apartment (mainly updating the kitchen/bathroom counters with marble contact paper and lining all the shelves/drawers) and when I was moving out the folks that were leasing after me loved all the upgrades I made. After I moved out the leasing company came in to clean and inspect the unit, and they ripped everything out and charged me about $500 for repairs. When the folks picked up their keys and showed up to move all their stuff, they were shocked that all the "upgrades" were gone and they were left with the standard 90s apartment decor. She called me and sounded like she was about in tears but there was nothing I could do at that point. Just something to consider for other renters out there looking to do the same!

Shan Richardson It absolutely does! In fact when I left, my friend who was moving in was upset that I took it off. Just be careful with cutting. Use a wide cutting board and you’re fine. It’s easy to clean and doesn’t lift.

MEGA TIP : you have thoroughly cleaned the grout lines back to white, to keep them that way, brush them with cleat nail polish at night this will give them 6-8 hours drying time) and say goodbye 👋 to repeating the cleaning process a few times per year !

Props to you for telling us you cleaned the counter top with alcohol! Most DIY'ers mention cleaning, but don't specify what, or they use products that are for sure leaving a film. Just like when you get your nails done and the technician sprays alcohol before painting. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Started watching and was impressed with the way you did the righthand side of the countertop so I gave it a LIKE. Watched some more; when you got to the sink and cut precisely around the metal corner I was like 'Oh she did that' and I went back to give it a like again- remembered that I already liked it once. lol. Now I'm talking to myself 'ok, you already LIKED this vid you can't add more LIKES' Then you got to the corners and used the blow dryer and it came out lovely and guess what ?? Yup I tried to LIKE it again. Excuse me while I binge watch Waynaworld. New subby 👍K

Walmart & home depot also sells this contact paper as well. Very durable, easy to do & really makes things look upgraded without much effort. Love Love❤

Crystal Medina You can find marble contact paper anywhere. HOWEVER, you cannot find a roll with those dimensions!!! I checked Amazon and the largest roll I found is 3 ft by 12ft. Can’t wait to see it

heyyy, you can use a magic eraser on grout, works great. im a cleaner for B&B cleaning and me and my husband used them on a car dealership's grout and you would be amazed at how white they turned out. looked great. but you did great!❤

Just wanted to let you know, you inspired me to do my whole rental kitchen. The contact paper is really frustrating but looks amazing. I had ugly standard brown cabinets and I painted them black. Added gold hardware. And ordered a peel and stick backsplash. I'm very excited for it to be all done!

you did a great job. i’ve seen so many people doing these where they use a ton of smaller pieces and the seams are so obvious. and with they corner they have parts of the contact paper just sticking up. yours looks amazing.

I love using the toilet bowl cleaner for grout line its heaven

I like the contact paper but I kinda like the original counters. We all have own tastes. Looks really nice. I'll have try the works see it work on my grout

Nice! Your kitchen would look nice with a stove cover and backsplash to compliment your work. There’s some great videos here and ways to do the backsplash with real tile and not the peel and stick. You can do the floor too and it looks flawless!

You are a landlords dream. I would have loved having you as a tenant. Every apartment I rented out was painted white making it easier for decorating. I love your ideas!!!

I also put contact paper on my kitchen countertops. The best tip I got was to spray window cleaner and using a squeegee to push it out before laying it down. so I was able to move it around to get it lined up right. I also used the peel and stick square flooring for my backsplash and they both look great.

Thank you for posting this series. First let me say that cleaner from the dollar store? "The Works". OMG...it is AMAZING and you are right it went to work on that dirt and grout. I've spent way more money on expensive brand cleaners (Tilex, Lysol) and not achieved this kind of result. Thank you a million times over.

Your kitchen is the bomb! And The works does WORK!!! Omg! When I saw u using that I had to write something cause I thought I was the only one using that to clean, not just for toliets, but to clean tubs, and sinks. I never thought about using on my floors but I am now. I thought I was the only one and who knows about that little kept secret at the dollar store. OMG! I use that to clean my tubs and it gets it so white and clean as heck baby! Fyi...dont ever mix w bleach or ammonia. I tried to do a "Super Clean" and mixed all those together with The Works too, girl I almost kilt myself and my pets!!! You never want to mix The Works with bleach or ammonia!!! Girl those chemicals started smoking, I was like, "uh ole!"😳 what have I done!?? Whats happening? Girl I immeadiatly turned the cold water on and ran the shower on that and ran out the bathroom too because the smell WAS SOOO STRONG! You cant be in that bathroom or stand by it or you will die, u have to leave. I closed the door and went outside. I had to go outside bc the smell was WAY TO STRONG! Good job. I think I would have picked a darker marble paper. It would offset the all white kitchen and add definition to the counters.

I may try and do a Before and After 2019 small kitchen Tour showing the contact paper I used it on my daughter's kitchen as the backsplash and countertop. I plan to also use it on a table creating it as a small island giving it a Water Fall Edge Island using that contact paper.

It's the Peel and Stick Adhesive Marble Vinyl Craft Paper White/Grey Roll. $9.98 per roll is what I purchased...howwver, it comes on various sizes.

How do you keep water 💦 from getting under it or should I say will water or liquids on the counter tops damage the paper I have a husband who is very messy & clumsy

I believe she said that she used silicone caulking to help seal in the edges and I think that's a wise idea but also for the underside of the counter I would have used white quarter round to keep the edges from coming loose. But for this type of finish...you cannot put hot things on it. It will burn, discolor and melt. I did one a very long time ago and used glass with rubber nubs to preserve the countertop.

Becareful if u try this... If u cook alot..not a good idea.. Its easily to ruin..decoration purposes, its perfect💖💖...I did this years ago...water around sink started leaking under contact paper... But she did mentioned use some sealer...... Remember its paper... Nothing hot.. No cutting food around it..

I used a granite looking one in my apartment 9 years ago... that I ordered online lol...just have to stay on the men who sometimes don’t feel the need for a cutting board... but thankfully the granite look made cut marks hard to see.

I know people think white appliances are tacky but i love an all white kitchen😍😍

I would leave that on when you move out, you basically upgraded that apartment for free. They can go up on the rent, upgrades are in incentive when your renting out units. However, i will share that it’s “temporary” and you can remove if they like. But for the most part you’re giving them the option to keep or remove.

I want to do this in my dated rental kitchen! Is it easy to remove when you move out? Does it damage the counter tops?

I have those lights everywhere in my house too! I've been wanting to fix up our counters too so thanks for showing how to do the contact paper.
