DIY Battery Box

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I decided to keep the battery that came with the bike instead of buying a new/smaller one. By keeping the old one, I can save a few bucks and have some chopping content for you guys.

Dude, duck tape, and cardboard. The fabricator's best friends. Much respect for low budget tools, yielding better results {IMO} than high dollar CAD programs .. 1-off custom designs from a garage? That's what our addiction is about.

Put some foam or another type of insulator under the battery. Will extend the battery life for sure due to dampening of vibrations.

Or better yet, put a mix of ball bearings and screws as that will add more sound effects and Fits inline with the anti performance theme of the bike.

Nice work, man. When I built my battery box, I used some 2 inch angle iron from Lowes. I used my battery as a jig when I made my marks to cut and to weld the pieces together. Pretty much went with the same design as you did with the clamp. Your's looks perfect for your build.

Very well done. Simple and effective. Kinda did the same thing on my blue sporty build. I just used thicker material that I had laying under my bench. You may want to consider another anchor point such as maybe frame due the vibration from that hardtail set up and shitty roads because that is a heavy battery and a lot of stress on those mounting bolts. Always love the videos . You guys have almost single-handedly inspired a whole new generation of garage builds and sharing of ideas, that's pretty cool in my book !! Ride safe. Guy Speight

Good workmanship, but for me i don,t see much point in have clamp system like that as you cannot remove battery with the box insitu and also i would have run strap across the battery instead of length wise less chances of metal strap shortening the battery terminals. Great vids...

What did you do about the bolts sticking through the bottom of the box? Cause if it's sitting on the bolt heads it's more than likely to wear a hole in the battery, which isn't good. Quick and dirty answer is a piece of ply thicker than the bolt heads, with holes drilled to clear the bolt heads.

yup, theres a plywood + rubber mat to absorb the vibration. But I'm thinking of changing up the battery and getting something smaller now.

dc current is far less dangerous than ac current, you can still arc off but it requires far more amperage and voltage to do so and straight non salinated water is alot less conductive than people think
