Motorcycle Battery Box Install How-To on a Hardtail Triumph Bobber

This video is brought to you by www.lowbrowcustoms.com
In this step by step how-to video, Tyler shows you how to install a Gasbox Universal Battery box securely by using our Lowbrow Customs Coped Steel Bungs on a Triumph bobber project. There are endless options on how you could mount this battery box but we found this way to be one of the easiest, clean, and efficient when it comes to hardtailed motorcycles with a bottom cross tube.

00:01 - Intro
00:39 - Here is what we are working with and the steps that are going to be taken.
01:48 - Drill the holes out on the battery box tray to fit 5/16 hardware so it can be used with Lowbrow Customs Coped Bungs.
02:46 - Change out your drill bit to a counter sink that works for 5/16 flat head bolt, remove slowly material from the tray till you get the proper depth needed for your bolt.
06:30 - Thread the bungs into place on the battery box tray, don't full tighten down.
08:03 - Set the tray on the bottom cross tube and put into position where you want it to sit, make sure it is level to bottom frame rail and has sufficient clearance to the chain.
11:33 - Prepare / clean the bottom cross tube and bungs for welding.
13:28 - Put the battery box tray on coped bungs into the position you wanted, again make sure it is level and the way you want it.
15:52 - Fire up that Lincoln Electric welder and Tac Weld the bungs to the bottom cross tube with battery box tray still attached to them.
17:30 - Unbolt the battery box tray from the coped bungs.
18:22 - Finish up your weld on those bungs.
19:20 - Bungs are all welded up, let'em cool down then bolt up your battery box tray, slap a battery in there and put the strap over top.
22:00 - That's a wrap!

I'd add some padding to the battery box . Kitchen Sponges ? Also , I'd make the box big enough for a lawn tractor battery . I love those pre fab bungs !

As a machinist I winced when I saw how fast he was running that countersink. They should be run much slower than a drill, it will eliminate that chatter.

Great video👍🏼 love the look with that rear wheel, what size is that wheel looks just right. Have you thought about doing a video of building A whole custom bike? From start to finish? A big project but that would be something special.

I think a weld nut under that battery strap would have made more sense and looked better but good job anyway :)

Hello. Please tell me how thick is the sheet metal used as a battery holder? I started making a battery holder with a 2 mm thick board and I have the feeling that it is a bit thick. Thanks
