Why didn't you use a disappearing marker instead of tape? I'm wondering 🤔

You have a very nice process for these burp cloths. I like the serger method. Your idea to quilt or topstitch across the thirds is a very good idea, too.
If I could share my excitement right now, I'd gladly do so. I just made my first Burp Cloth and It actually worked. The excitement is real Jan. I was the one at school that refused wholeheartedly to sew. I was the one always sat at the back of the classroom in disgrace. Oh, if my sewing teacher could see me now!!!! Mrs Scott, you would be so proud of me. Jan, you are an amazing teacher. Hubby thinks Ive gone nuts, as in 32 years of marriage, Ive refused to sew a button on his shirts, sew a hem on his trousers, etc etc. Im having so much fun right now with your channel. Many Many Thanks, hun xx

Wonderful. So glad you are sewing again and enjoying it! It's never too late to find new interests. Keep it up! Thanks for the kind words.
I'm not a full on beginner but still love the complete instructions. The red arrow is perfect, could enjoy more. No sound, except your calming voice creates a perfec learning environment. Thank you for all of your time and talent ❤️
I learned to sew by making burp rags with my church’s women's group as a service project to benefit a local NICU. They were a perfect learning project as the pattern we used was very forgiving, and all the seams are just straight seams. I have gone on to teach elementary school aged girls to sew with the same project. When my grandson was born a few years ago I of course made a huge stack for him. Much to my delight, this little baby loved the soft flannel rags and they became his security blankie/comfort item that he took everywhere he went with him! And the best part? He had at least a dozen of these burp cloths and was happy with any one of them, so no inconsolable child crying if his one comfort item gets lost as he had the whole stack to choose from at anytime. The pattern used by this KZreadr is very similar to the pattern I first learned, except I would say her version is a little nicer than my everyday pattern. I would use this pattern when making burp cloths as a shower gift, for example. Great tutorial!

Why thank you! I love that you are teaching the kids to sew!!!!
I like how simple this project is. I’m sure a new mom would love to receive them.
A little trick before you turn inside out .... where the opening is at > press the unsewn seam allowance open by pulling tight from backtack to backtack & it will automatically form the straight edge of the seam then press with iron. Now turn it right side out & the seam naturally falls into place with less fudging & burning your fingers tips-lol
Thank you, these are a great and quick project for a baby shower. I want to add these to my list of in-between projects to make.
You could make matching washcloths with the scraps. Same concept just smaller and square.
Great tutorial. Very simple, yet cute and functional. I have made about 30 -40 burp clothes the last two years, and I love the idea of using terry cloth or towels for the backing. Also, running just the two stitching lines as fold lines is brilliant! Thanks! Am making more burp clothes soon for a new baby.
Love the masking tape idea! Thanks!
I'm a full-on beginner. Thank you for sharing this "beginner" project!

Thank you for this simple, easy to follow tutorial! I just made a bunch for my daughter who is having her first baby in a month.😁
I am totally new at sewing. I just watched the mitered corner baby blanket and you talked about the burp clothes and how I could you leftover fabric to make them. Can't wait for store to open so I can get started. I have a 3 day old great neice that I will make them for. Woo woo so excited 😁
I have been craft sewing for about a year. Your instructions are straightforward and so easy to follow. Thank you...I feel like I can actually do this skill after watching a couple of your videos.

Thank you, love your projects, im gonna make some this weekend.
I definitely pre wash all my fabrics prior to cutting and sewing . Cottons, flannels , terry cloth all shrink at different percentages. If the fabric is not pre washed, when the receiver washes and throws them in the dryer, you can have a distorted rectangle. I wash all my burp clothes, iron them and place them in a plastic bag ready to be used by the new mom. I also place a note indicating ready to use.

Very clear tutorial! I’ve found that it’s easier to fold the edges of the opening to the inside if I leave it in the center of the seam and not at the corner. Otherwise, this is exactly how I make burp cloths.

OK, first of all, the project is great and your instructions are so clear. I have some new parents who will be receiving some of these from me in the near future :) Secondly, your masking tape idea is golden! I plan to loosely roll the scraps of tape into ball, sticky side out to use as a lint remover on my sewing area and my clothes when I'm done sewing for the day.

I have two friends who are expecting grandbabies--one set of twins, so 3 gifts. I am a knitter, but the showers are within a couple weeks and I don't have time to donthe blankets I wanted to do. then it hit me--burping cloths! After watching several videos which were super complicated and not detailed, I came across yours. Thank goodness! I love the idea of using towels as a backing. I am not a sewist, but I know enough to be dangerous. This is a great tutorial! Thank you!

I don't know if this is a thing, but I harvest towels and linens from Goodwill regularly for fabric. It's used, it's soft, it's CHEAP. I bleach the crap out of them and it's perfect fodder for a project like this without buying a perfectly good towel. God bless your poor thumb. :) Nice, concise video. Thank you so much.
