I hope this pattern was helpful and I'd love to see what you create! What pattern fabric are you going to use? As I mentioned, I am NOT a professional seamstress but I promise your baby will not care either way! Happy crafting!

I've made so many of these I can't count, great video but I use cotton batting. Then quilt a few.
The fabric sticks to the fleece interfacing so less pins. If you don’t like pinking the sewn edges just do a short vertical snip on rounded edges b/4 turning right side out. This small project would be perfect to practice free motion quilting. Thanks for a great tutorial

Thanks for your extra tips!!
Thanks. How DMC make sure the angles are the same in bothe directiins when quilting?
Thank you fur you video. I'm just learning to sew. Can this be put in the washing machine? Dues the interface lose shape and go bobbley?
So cute!!! Thank you for the video and pattern. Love the curve for the shoulder vs the square burp cloth. Quick question, when you sew the lines, do I need to back stitch at the beginning and end of each line? I know you said the top stitch around will take care of it. Wondering if “take care of it” is the lines not having a back stitch at the beginning and end. Thank you!❤
If I use flannel material, do I have to use the interface material?
Thanks!

First time watching one of your videos. Really enjoyed it. Anyone ever tell you you look like Drew Barrymore? (compliment)
Did not find the link for downloading the pattern. Can u provide?
What fabric are u useing
What are the measurements before and after sewing
Where do i find the measurements?
Where can I find the pattern?
Hello! Thank so much for sharing. May I ask? why do they curve in the middle instead of a simple rectangle pattern? Just curious if this is just a preference or if there’s logic behind the shape.
@GinnyBeeEdD

I curve it to better fit my shoulder!
I think I can do this! Did you back stitch when sewing each square or will the final 1/4 inch stitching around the cloth keep the threads in place?
@GinnyBeeEdD

That’s a great question! I did not backstitch the squares since the seam around the edge goes over all of it but it never hurts to just do one!
no pattern link. please help
How absorbent is iron on fleece for a burp cloth ? I generally use a terry cloth and flannel. No interfacing .

Could I use flannel as the top fabric piece or does it have to be cotton?
@heleneikerenkotter2950

@@Fattiapples you can use cotton flannel. It is more absorbent if it does not include polyester . Always pre wash. It does shrink . I did ask the question concerning iron on fleece but I think the iron on glue does probably make a difference in absorption on at least one side. If you use a terry and a flannel, you would not need a layer of fleece. They both absorb well if they are cottons.

@@heleneikerenkotter2950 I agree with your question about the iron on fleece. I plan on doing what you said. So would I do cotton as top fabric, then flannel as middle fabric, and backing as terry cloth? Or do you mean you use the terry cloth OR flannel as the middle absorbent piece with another cotton as the backing? Thanks for the response! I plan on buying some fabric soon to make some for my cousins new baby 😊 Also side question: could I make a onesie out of cotton flannel? Or best to stick with all cotton or cotton with a little bit of spandex like 2-4%?

@@Fattiapples when I made my burp cloths for gifts, I only used two layers. One layer of a good weight cotton flannel , and a nice weight terry cloth. There are different weights of flannel. Some can be flimsy and cheap. No matter what I used, I only used two layers because you start dealing with bulk and the item that you are making is not very large and you want it to drape over the shoulder. I just feel that interfacing placed on one side of a fabric is going to make it non absorbable. I did make some burp clothes with a terry and sometimes just a fun non flannel cotton . A good grade of terry cloth is going to absorb, it would be on top and the fun cotton as the lining when mom puts it on her shoulder. After you sew the two pieces together RS to RS and leave a small opening on the straight side to turn , I roll the seam area to make sure that I have the two layers even , one not peeking under the other. Sometimes I will baste around the ends before I do that quarter inch edge stitch all around. Then I will sew a line of stitching across the middle on the narrow portion from one side to the other side to hold the two fabrics together . You can experiment . I wish I had known about making burp cloths when I had my babies. Another fabric that can be used for one side of a burp cloth are cloth diapers of one size with an extra pad in the center . Actually all you would have to do is use a flannel on the other side to dress it up. I used cloth diapers when I had my babes and just folded those long pieces of cloth and laid them on my shoulder. There were two sizes back in the day. Not sure what is out there now. Actually not many mothers are going to deal with washing diapers in today’s world. 🥴 I loved it and would always opt for the real fabric diapers. Hope this helped. You will do fine. There are dozens of videos making burp cloths. Watch all of them and then combine the parts that you like the best. 💕
How did the burp cloth soak it in I am going to use flannel and toweling

Very well! It has cleaned up many, many catastrophic spit ups and never soaked all the way through! It is pilling a tad after two years of use but still in great shape!
Hi and thank you. How does the baby wear this item? There is not any opening for the babies neck? I am I missing something? Nick

It drapes over your shoulder! It’s not a bib but designed to protect your clothes from spit up!
Hi, first of all thank you for posting this pattern for the burp cloth and your time, I’m curious why the interfacing? Is that to help with absorbency or to help it retain its shape? Just curious thank you!
@GinnyBeeEdD
Жыл бұрын
It’s to add an extra absorbency layer and to keep the shape, but it is certainly not required! They do have a fairly big difference in absorbency with it, but my ones without have never gotten soaked!

Do you use flannel fabric or simply cotton?
@GinnyBeeEdD
Жыл бұрын
You can use either one, but I do find that flannel tends to be a little bit more absorbent!
Извините, пожалуйста, а что это и для чего? Я не поняла
Thank you for sharing your pattern. Just a tip tho, you can eliminate half of that pattern. Just cut the straight part on the fold. Also, the fusible interfacing is only absorbent on the fleece side, a better choice would be to use terry cloth or flannel.
