I built my Christmas train when I worked at Devry. I put the lights on a pegboard. No smoke - one smoke ovals then 2 smokes then repeat. at the same time the connecting rod getting bigger front and smaller back at the same time moving parallel instead of the circle. I think it looks better that way. I am building one for my front yard now.

Great job and design. Something that you might like to see are the RGB LED pixels. They use DC so lots less power and you can get this and tons of other effect with out as many relay.

Funny story, when I first started making circuit boards to run Christmas light displays back in the early 90s, I controlled them using SCR's. SCR's are DC only unlike a TRIAC, so I ran those AC lights on a full bridge rectifier supplying DC. But yes, RGB pixels are fun and I've used them on various projects over the years. I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but the lights on these displays are LEDs as well so no concern over power.

Thanks, I've never used an arduino but maybe I should get one and learn.

Awesome , I’m going something similar, do you have a copy of the arduino code you used?

How are you hooking your trailer wire up to your display? Do you have some sort of junction box with outlets?

Do you have an email address I can reach out to you on? I really want to start building my own displays.
