    Beautiful build, very good attention to small details. 2 things I would do... Wire your woofers in parallel instead of series, woofers don't behave the same series vs parallel in very low frequencies. Reason why subs never get wired in series. Second, you should at least brace front baffle against back one. Doesn't matter how thick the plywood is, at this surface area with a couple of hundreds of watts the baffles are going to flex and waste energy at low hz's. Simple truss would do. :)

    This is a question for all who’ve commented including the builder. First of all excellent work! My question is this, has anyone ever considered a cabinet build with three bass guitar speakers and a subwoofer for the fourth? Or maybe a 2x12 cab with one bass guitar speaker and a subwoofer all being the same size?

    Bryan Mullen Well, the idea of the bass in the same box is not very good. Apart maybe and it would be very good. as long as you get what you want and want to listen. But I think that if you are looking for a box for an electric guitar, it would not sound very good because of the bass question. Since it is for electric bass it would be very good because all the notes would be heard. I am looking for the measurements of a 2X15 cabinet for the electric bass and I do not have them. If you have them or know the video link I would appreciate it. Regards

    Would having 2 100watt speakers in one cab work through a 100watt amp? Really need help!

  • @zzzzzzzzzzzzz3545

    @zzzzzzzzzzzzz3545

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey there! 2 100 watt speakers would give an amplifier rated for 100 watts plenty of headroom! The wattage rating on speakers is the most amount of power they can handle, so one speaker 100 watt speaker with a 100watt amplifier might be pushed to its limit but if the 100watts is being divided into two speakers at peak volume they'd be receiving ~50watts of power each. If you are a novice to this whole thing, you may want to double check the impedance of your amplifier and the impedance of the speakers. This is a value measured in ohms. It is best practice to have this paired; to avoid serious damage to components with certain mismatches between gear and poor use of the power in other mismatches. You can wire speakers in series or parallel and each have their own formula to determine the collective impedance of the two speakers. For instance two 4 ohm speakers wired in series would be 8ohms because we add the impedance rating of each speaker. The same speakers wired in parallel would be 2ohms, we take the two speaker impedance ratings when added together(8ohms) and divide that by the number of speakers we have(2). Hope this helps! If I was overkill with knowledge you were already aware of I apologize, just want to make sure if you decide to go through with a project like this you can see it through to the end!

    Flawless workmanship, but I cringed when you installed a 1/4" jack. 1/4" plug is for signal input, not for power output . Neutrik jacks and plugs are now the industry standard, although heavy duty banana pugs will work fine.

  • @ilpatongi

    @ilpatongi

    5 жыл бұрын

    Jeffrey Zaiser You’re quite confused. First of all, 1/4 jacks are used by every bass/guitar amp and cab brands. The other option is speakon, both of them can be found on many cabs, they’re the same thing just different looking. Secondly, alternated current doesn’t require anything special, you could run cabs with RCA connectors too if you really wanted to. Banana plugs are for HiFi speakers, they’re not anywhere near durable nor secure enough to be used in a pro application. Also, aren’t Neutrik 1/4 jacks just like every other 1/4 jack?

  • @KennethNicholson1972

    So, sound engineering has gotten to the point high end cab makers design specs and baffles within the cab to intentionally tune the cab how they want. Just a box with random ports is going to lose some of the energy those speakers are generating. Your workmanship is fantastic, I would recommend reverse engineering the dimensions, internal baffles and porting of a cab design you like next time. You will get much better results.
