This is so true. When I was 18 I dated a 27 year old and was with him for 5 years. I was a complete emotional wreck when we split. I was inexperienced, straight out of high school and didn't date when I was in there and the relationship was basically me proving myself worthy of him and constantly trying to come up tops over every woman he had waiting on the sidelines. We split because I cheated. Granted I wasn't perfect either but he moved in with his new girl a week after we broke up. Looking back he never could be alone and I was constantly kept on my toes. My self esteem took a knock because of that relationship but yeah. These big age gaps amongst younger people are grounds for exploitative and insecure people who exercise power dynamics. Still healing from that but I'm glad I'm not there anymore

This old ass dude was creeping on a high schooler and still ended up being the immature one in the relationship. How did that happen. How is a child more responsible than you? Sometimes I find that cradle robbers are often insecure. They are terrified that their young spouses will find someone their own age and leave them. He should quit worrying about whether she's wearing her ring at work and instead work on his own issues. I hope he fights the cancer, but she should run for the hills. They are on two different maturity plateaus and he's just not on her level. Thank goodness that they don't have kids together.

After treatment for lymphatic cancer, it’s unlikely that he can have children.

He is controlling because he doesn't want to be alone and unstable anymore. He's also very petty. She's a pushover when it comes to her family and scared to put her foot down when it comes to him because she doesn't want to upset him. Like judge said, they both grew up without a stable foundation. So I'm pretty sure they fill an emotional void for each other. He wants a mother to take care of him. She wants a father to make her feel protected and secure. I hope they can grow up a little more and work it out.

I think Judge Lynn nailed it in her summation - these two are trying to make a family/relationship when they have no idea what one is, having never been in one. Kara does not have a caregiver personality, partially because she's too young to understand the concept. You can't wait for someone in need of care to tell you they need their medicine - you have to know the treatment schedule and make sure they are following it. Brandon appears to forget she is that young and expects a higher level of maturity... but she's still a kid with no life experience. They both have a LOT of growing up to do, but I don't know if they can do it in time to make this work long-term.

Britt Brat works differently for everyone surely. Tho being in the 20s is still considered "young", I personally think it'd be an ideal time to take what one wants for their future seriously. It's not the wrong time to settle down either especially if the partner is already at that phase. To defend him with family issues , let him control the finances and what she wears, is way too much for a 21 yr old or any age! Him stalking her about not wearing a ring & punching walls is scary!

She's so amazing. At the end you could see her being his backbone and help him straighten up and talk. They're a beautiful couple. And she'd mature enough to make her own decisions.

One thing i love abt the judge she always let the couples know she hears them. Alot of people just want to be heard. She is def good at what she does.

Mismatched. She's young, naive. He's older, insecure, and knows she's naive. They came together because of similar misfortune. When she matures and discovers herself, she will be a different person altogether.

well for most men there is a reason why they prefer a much younger women. 1. he can mold her to his will, 2. Not a lot of life experience so she will have less of an opinion 3. and of course to bare children 4. more submissive

Oh my, I had to laugh at the judge's Garanimals quip. You had to be a child of the late seventies to early eighties to get it😀😂😀😂

She too young my opinion to be married especially to someone who struggling with illness. That is hard for people who been together for years but entering into a relationship knowing someone has a serious illness I probably could not do it. The age gap is too much they in 2 different stages in life. At 21 you want to free and party and do you versus 31 you probably ready to settle down and be stable.

T Henderson it is call bonding, they bonded emotionally, where you really paying attention? 1.they were both on foster care, 2.she mention that she felt sorry for him having cancer. and that he is the first guy who approached her like a gentleman. They both love each other and their love and life story is what inspires great novels and great movies. And I am so inspired. You sound so heartless and negative, open your eyes heart and learn, I hope you are not materialistic

I like them as a couple. None of their issues were commitment or trust, it was petty things they can work through.

they need each other and why are people commenting that they will leave each other. That's not going to happen. hope they will be with each other till the end. and be happy

She's a baby, so of course age makes a difference. She is too young for that type of responsibility.

No such thing as being "too young" to be married. At 18 your legally able to do whatever you like. It's about two ppl who can come together and both decide it's what they want.

If she were my daughter I would be encouraging her to enjoy her youth but then again Im not surprised she didnt have the proper guidance

So when a man targets a much younger woman especially a teenager he is seeking to steal her energy, youth and vigor. A teenager going out into the world is like a brand new baby. He wants her to put up with his bs and being young she has the energy to withstand a lot of trauma. I hope she left him. In my case i was 19 and he was 35. Told me he was 29. He was unbelievably tormented.

10 yrs age differential is really not much. However the fact that she was only 17 when they met and he was 27 makes you wanna cringe a little in terms of how mature she may have been. It’s like 15 and 25, or 16 and 26. They are all 10 yrs apart but the maturity factor is something to worry about.

I literally don't even understand...how does a 27 year old come across a 17 year old at all? Let alone to date?

Work some 27 year olds work at fast food grocery stores and office jobs I’m 19 and work wit a 26 year old 😂

She grew up within dysfunction and so the stability of marriage likely works for her. Her childhood was probably not like those who spent their entire life in a functional household. With that being said, their relationship actually looks like it will be a good relationship if the husband does not let his insecurities get away from him. I pray they create the stability and family that everyone deserves.

One must note that this couple was abandoned from young, and have bounce back from adversity to be married. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer that can be cured. Applaude the couple, and forget the age difference, which is not bad, Donald Trump, American President, is 19 years his wife senior. I see a lovely couple, but some of you see a black man with a light skinned lady, and see that as a problem, which they don't see. People has the right to choose who and what they want, and when they want. I love this couple.

She is a gorgeous young lady. Still has some growing up to do. She does come off a bit nonchalant. He is older, with a life threatening disease. With that being said, maybe he is controlling and jealous because he fear loosing her. My thoughts on this union.

Same experiences with my ex he was 26 and that time I m 16🙈 (my first love) but I m in a relationship not in marriage so we broken up after 1yr of relationship Now I m 21 😽I was successfully moved on but that was very painful

Their age difference is not the issue. The issue is that the man is controlling and wants her to keep serving him. Manipulative men and even women exist in all age brackets. I know many couples with a bigger age difference than these two who have had long and blissful marriages. It's love and respect that sustain relationships not the need to change or better the other person.

I think 20 and 30 is wrong even tho both parties are adults that’s weird asf I’m 20 and men I’m their 30’s holla at me and I tell them quick your too old and I’m too young

Beautiful girl who was preyed on. I’m saddened that at 17 she was missing the guidance she needed. A 27 year old, could he not be reported to the police??!? How and where was this legal?!?
