    I've read a lot of books listening to your glorious work. Thanks a lot. The soundtrack is fitting the game perfectly, too. I haven't felt as much joy for an RPG as I did towards DOS2 since Fallout 1&2. When I first heard Mead, Gold, and Blood play on board Lady Vengeance, I felt literal shivers go through my whole body.

    What are you smoking lol? This game was developed in 2 years, gets Game of the Year, Best Story, Best Role Playing Game, 9/10 across the board, just naming a FEW of the accomplishments. Meanwhile you have some triple A developers taking 6-12 years to make titles that don't measure up in any of the categories DoS:2 was acclaimed for. It's not even fanaticism to call the game a masterpiece. It simply is.

  • @LCSintrax

    @LCSintrax

    5 жыл бұрын

    If you think that bunch of awards shield any game from criticism, you are delusional. DOS2 hardly improved anything from the first, already flawed game. It has barely developed character system with many pointless stats and traits, laughable itemization bound to your character level and on the top of that - the complete fuck up which is the combat. Pointless armour system that serves only to prolong fights with already hp bloated enemies and the utterly retarded initiative which gives unfair advantage to AI - I guess it was simpler just to do that than design more interesting encounters.

  • @diomeja

    @diomeja

    5 жыл бұрын

    It doesn't shield a game from criticism anymore than it opens your eyes to someone saying something gaining objective awards is delusional. I have my points about the game I don't care for just as much, but if you want to get basic, a masterpiece is: a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship. Kind of something that tends to be quantified by cumulative praise and acclaim. It's not that strange gaming companies and reviewers also called it just that. On an even lower level of thought, saying things like "pointless system" and "retarded initiative" just says you either forgot that these factors change per difficulty, or missed how to effectively use what the game has given you, bc it is pretty easy to overcome both of these obstacles, even on Honour Mode. Nothing is free from critique, but I'd think Larian Studios is probably quite okay with how the majority received their efforts.

  • @LCSintrax

    @LCSintrax

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@diomeja Yeah, I'd sayt that's typical pattern of fanboy reaction for critique. First you used absurd appeal to authority and now you are trying to paint my words as 'duh you just don't play it properly'. Bad stat system is underwhelming and poorly thought out no matter difficulty level. When you have +% dmg in weapon skill vs leveling warfare which influence all physical damage one has to question why such weapon skill was put there in the first place. Fighting more hp bloated enemies won't change that. It's just lazy design which sadly took lead in the whole character system since most of stuff just adds more percentage damage. Armour system is just the same - lazy. Devs wanted to prevent control crowd spam from the first game, so their solution was a quick band aid of preventing player from stunning etc. enemies before destroying enemies armour. Skill checks, success rates - screw them. Player can't work around some unpredictability factor and adjust strategy accordingly. Now it's all about nuking armour and almost killing your enemies (thanks to completely retarded 'initiative' system which move queue in favor of AI not by rolling the initiative based on stats). 'Larian Studios is probably quite okay with how the majority received their efforts.' Me don't want to address your points, so here is yet another fallacy. How clever.

    Let me tell you something. I'm a skeptical person when it comes to buying big games. Divinity always seemed like a game that wasn't for me. Everyone said it was one of the best RPGs they've ever played, but I didn't listen. Everyone said to just try it through family sharing, but I denied their requests. Everyone on KZread said it's a must play RPG, but it fell on deaf ears. The one day I conceded. I have played over 100 different RPGs. Across PC, console and portable game devices. I can wholeheartedly say this is the *best* RPG I've ever played. Every encounter, every battle, every character, every place, every peace of music is memorable. That is the goal of every RPG, and Divinity Original II passes with flying colours!

    Although, I must say, I had a hard time getting into it. The game isn't very good at communicating to new players how it's supposed to be played. Most of the time at Fort Joy I kept asking myself: "Am I doing this right? is this how it's supposed to work?" While the amount of freedom and how its game elements click together is ultimately amazing, only very little of all those mechanisms is actually explained, up to a point where, half-way through Fort Joy, you're rather lost about what you're supposed to do. For me personally, I really got into it way after leaving the island. Since then, I've been looking forward to start anew and to experience the game's beginning with my current knowledge.

    you can feel it, you can sense it. Larian has put there hearth and soul into this masterpiece. When you play divinity original sin 2, you play an adventure that stays with you, you will meet characters that will impress you, you will solve puzzles that have dazzeled you and when the conclusion comes, you will repeat those steps over again. All returning to the perfect sounds and music entering your ears when you hit the menu. Larian, srsly, thank you.

    Ah yes.... Puzzles... I killed the hammer and all her goons with an indestructible gold chest loaded with so much weight if opened would cause a singularity to be birthed into the world and swallow it whole simply because I noticed that telekinesis only used one action point in combat. I even went so far as to get the abilities which allow me to gain more action points and became an unstoppable physics breaking cryptid hell bent on squeezing every last point of exp I could out of the game by doing all the quests I could then murdering everyone in town for no reason before moving on to the next zone. I became a god of precise destruction, none who encountered me survived to tell others. Void? Light? It mattered not to one with power such as I. They were merely in my way. I had already ascended beyond godhood long ago. Legions of darkness and armies of light were but wheat before the scythe, crushed beneath the dragon's hoard. A burden more great than that of Atlas.

    What I think is truly impressive about it is that it is a sequel which actually builds upon and improves just about every aspect of Divinity OS 1. It isn't just a sequel that is just more of the first game without much added to it. It isn't a sequel that is worse than the first game. It is a sequel which is, in my opinion, objectively far better than the first Divinity OS game. As such, I would recommend to anyone to play the first game first. You don't really need to play it for the sequel to make sense, but man is it hard to go from playing Divinity OS 2 to Divinity OS 1 because of how much it improved upon the first game. Larian Studios is a studio which has earned my loyalty as a consumer because of just how *good* the Divinity Original Sin games were, and then I started Baldur's Gate 3 and it just reinforced that loyalty even more.

I'm a huge fan of both franchises and have played all the entries, and even tho i edge slightly toward the Witcher (that's just my personal preference), it is damn close. When people tell you that games are just animated pieces of fantasy and there's nothing to it. Just listen to the fucking music *Cough cough* Rivellon. There goes a lot of heart and soul into a game, the story and the music for instance. Games like this are so much more than just a game. People can find them self in a game and be someone else for a change. Experiencing a game should be more than just what the eye can see. It should also impact you and it should hit you right in the feelings. Games like Divinity, The Elder Scrolls, The Witcher or even games like Fable. They all have something that many people seem to forget. And that is pure passion and heart. Games are not just small pieces of entertainment, they're personal, they show how you are and what kind of person you are. They're little pieces of art and everyone has a different feeling when subjecting them self to it. But the core remains the same for us all that respect and UNDERSTAND these games. It's another world. Some place we can hop in and out of in our own comfort. It's a tale, an experience, an art form and above all, it makes us who we are.

  • @Crytica.

    Exactly, Games actually make you see what kind of person you are. Games can describe a person without the person knowing it. Games are madew to enjoy, sure, but let's not forget that games are also made to reflect on the player. I really like games that give you freedom and give you different possibilities to finish a game and give you different endings. It shows how you are and shows what you could change. Games are more than just A to B, just like you said. That is what I'm trying to say to people that don't play games or only play shooters and/or sports games.

    Well, the most important part - every game is about feelings and immersion, i meant look at Doom, it's a shooter, i even dont care about lore, plot, i'm just rip and tear some demons, But the way how i do it -music, dynamic gameplay, screams, blood, gore, gunshots it makes me so bumped up, i can feel it, adrenaline, anger, hate, and joy and satisfaction, release when every demon is dead, one moment and i hunger for more, and it's awesome. I just want to say - no matter what genre is it, if it makes you feel something, its waking up emotions in you - this is truly an art, the way it should be. And games have some unique compabilities to touch your feelings, and this is what makes games different from books, movies, music, paintings etc. but its all just different ways to same result. But youre right, just dont make exceptions for shooters and spors games(i dont like sports games, but i guess there is good ones, and there is some point to play them)

    Amen to that. I know many who disparage games as a waste of time. I know that there are hardly 1 or 2 movies that got me as invested in the story, and made me feel so close to characters as video games like the Elder Scrolls, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Portal, Dragon Age, the Witcher, Deus Ex, Fallout, Divinity, Bioshock, Dishonored, and certainly none that compares to how I feel about Mass Effect. As technology evolves, games become multifaceted works of art that sometimes have nothing to envy even from great studio films.

He took me up beyond the trees To where the rock is bare He took me to a frozen lake And made me say a prayer Dark of night, two feet of snow Drifting sheer and pure My father made me walk alone The frozen grave ashore When we had walked an hour more My father drew his bow He shot an arrow in my back And left me in the snow And left me in the snow! Dark of night and full of snow Bloody red and steaming He called his father's name once more But he had left him bleeding I called my father's name once more And offered him a prayer The ice cracked on the frozen lake My father left me there My father left me there! He shot an arrow in my back And then he left me there! Dark of night, three feet of snow My father had killed me I washed my boots all through the snow And knew he walked within me I called my father's father's name And offered one last prayer The ice cracked on the frozen lake And my father's love was there Dark of night and full of snow Bloody red and steaming He called his father's name once more But he had left him bleeding Four feet of snow I can't bellow; And by the dying fire My father cries in grief and shame My father cries my name I feel my father's love once more My father cries my name My father cries my name! spoilers for the plot of the entire game When you meet Lucian at the end of the game, he talks about how his sons were dangerous, and that because he couldn't bring himself to kill Damian, Damian had been allowed to wreak untold havoc upon Rivellon. He was resolute not to make the same mistake with Alexander, and thus he sends Dallis to kill Alexander if you hadn't already killed him previously on the Nameless Isle. This might possibly be the basis for this song; Lucian feels grief for killing his son, while his son will forever wander the Hall of Echoes feeling betrayed by the one person he thought had loved him most.

    Seriously, Lucian turned out to be such a piece of shit in the end. I know he is (or rather was) a divine, but that doesn't mean he can decide the fate of everyone and tell who's going to live and who's going to be forcefully 'sacrificed'.

That *old* world, that dark mossy forest, where the pinetrees are so thick you see neither sky nor horizon, where every boulder is a troll and every stump a friend. Where the snow is a friend as old as death.
