I get chills even after seeing this hundreds of times. The Arrangement...sigh. One of the BEST Live performances of anything I've ever heard.
This performance won a Grammy for BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE! 💗💗💗

@@unknownrider3071 Thank you. I thought they had won; they were robbed with such a powerful performance!! 💗💗
He has such a pure voice and then he colores it with such grit... and cleans it immediately!
The rage in his voice "as the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made" says it perfectly. And the split second of silent awe of the audience at the end shows how powerful David Draiman's voice is.
Please note that David (The lead singer) was seated because he was as sick as a dog and had to be helped off stage when it was over.

I've heard so many different variations of just how sick he was during this performance that I wonder if any of them are true. Some say he had a cold, some say he had a lung infection, others say a sinus infection, and some say he had a terrible fever. Feels like one of those stories that gets bigger every time someone tells it.

He recently did an hour-long interview with @TheCharismaticVoice & he discussed it. The truth was he needed a major surgery because his vocal chords (or other parts, can’t remember) were extremely damaged. He was afraid of the procedure, but until he got the surgery his throat would get incredibly inflamed from time to time. Steroids only go so far & they weren’t helping that time. He didn’t want to miss the performance, so he went ahead & did it to the best of his limited ability. He eventually got the surgery & has been pain free ever since. 💜

Not facts ……
I 100% agree with your reaction! It is so moving and powerful... gives me the chills! Spectacular rendition of an amazing classic.
He has the best breath control! Thanks for the reaction.
The original was a warning and this version is rage that that warning was NOT heeded. I never judge an artist until I hear them live, because anyone can sound good in the studio. David is better live than he is on record. That is a rare thing. Thanks for the reaction.
The three of us children each picked a vocal for my father's funeral. Some thought it strange, but I picked this one. He played it every time he and I drove around town talking. Just the two of us. We mended many fences that way. Now I can hear my daddy in these lyrics. And I can feel the power of the meaning I now experience when I hear this song. My daddy in body may have passed, but the spirit remains
One of the things about this performance is that while Simon & Garfunkel's version was a "warning about not communicating properly"; Disturbs version is "a rage that the warning wasn't heeded". As you said, this was an epic performance and I also like it better than the studio version. Thanks for bringing this!

beautiful point...spot on...I can feel the anger
His vocals touch our minds with an extremely rare resonance, that releases decades of not "being heard" in the night, because we were taught to be "Silent." David's voice releases us from the hell within which we were living, no more to be silent!
I've watched Disturbed Sing This Song So Many Many Times....Amazing! I Do Return To Watch The Reactors Reaction 😅😅 To This !
I'm 63 years old and in the 70s I attended many concerts from Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, the Who, and David Bowie. I used to go to the Hard Rock Cafe and saw Kiss and Journey and Metalica and Led Zepplin with hard rock, leather and motorcycle gangs like Hell's Angels. You can't even imagine a 14-year-old kid with her friends rubbing shoulders with these guys and listening to Def Lepard. This guy and Dan Vasc and his music bring back all the magic. People my age know what I'm talking about. You only heard that mind-blasting sound at concerts.
David is a cantor. A cantor is a Jewish chanter who leads prayer or singing in a Jewish temple. It takes extreme talent to be one. They go through religious training and have a status close to rabbi. They often come from a long line of cantors. One of their talents is a superior vocal range. David is truly talented.

Actually David never became a canter. He was thrown out of school. There's an interview with loud wire about things pulled off the Wikipedia and weather or not there And Interview tell the story of how he got kicked out of school. In an example of art imitating If you've never seen the jazz singer with Neil diamond.
His voice just surrounds you and holds you close. It's comfort. Unreal.
Knowing he was sick and preformed this well blows my mind. Always loved the video version but "the show must go on" mentality live puts this as my #1. Thank you son for watching this version.

He wasn't sick, he had a lesion on one of his vocal chords. See his interview on "The Charismatic Voice" channel
6:19 that’s a lotta silence, man! It just renders you speechless, right? Like there are not words powerful enough to describe it.
I love your reaction….speechless. I’ve watched every single reaction to this live version. My favorite version too, and favorite song ever. Chills every time.
Chills every time 🔥😎 I didn’t think the live could be so much more impactful than the studio.
I am watching this for about the 100th time, and Davids voice still gives me goosebumps... I also adore Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, I miss them both.
David Draiman is a classically trained vocalist, and it shows. His voice is mesmerizing, and you end up lost in it. I’ve been a Disturbed fan for a long time, and I’m a 63 year old child of the 70’s. Man, there were some epic concerts back then, and still are nowadays. My husband and I were fortunate enough back then, to see the Pink Floyd ‘Animals’ tour concert, with the giant floating pig going over the huge crowd and it, from then on, was the gold standard for us. Tons of concerts later, I’d love to see a Disturbed concert. The only band we weren’t able to see, was Led Zeppelin, and I still kick myself for not trying harder. Anyway, dude, this was a great reaction to a fantastic band. Good job! ❤ Thank you.

Same here. 63 years old, Pink Floyd Animals concert. I took my daughters to see Disturbed just after their version of Sound of Silence came out. Epic.
This song sang by David is amazing. His voice makes this song come alive. You're right, he immortalized this song, no if's and's or but's about it. I always loved this song, but when David sings this song he puts so much emotion into it that it makes my hair raise, and my emotions run high. Love that you get what this song means as well. So much meaning is in this song. Thanks for revisiting it.
Hi Anthony. (TLDR: You have become my favorite reactor after listening to several hundred!) I grew up in the Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath era (1970's). I stopped listening to music pretty much 30 years ago (when I started paying attention to talk radio, instead). I only recently started listening to music again when the reactors to this song came out (a couple of years ago?). I was moved by this version for the same reason as you; that it has some spiritual aspect to it. Next, I was obsessed with the reactions to Oliver Anthony; which is where I first discovered you. At first, you were just okay, you got massive points for controlling the trolls attempting to prevent you from watching OA. After I saturated myself watching OA reactions, I turned my attention to Ren. I was most blown away by you when you reacted to I Shot The Sheriff and WarPigs with your friend Caine. Those reactions are definitely on my Top 5! Thanks and have a Nice Day! 🙂❤
Not sure if you knew this, but he is a classically trained Cantor. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Great reaction!

Conan is a huge fan of punk and metal, and there was an excellent chance you'd see great music if you went to or watched his show. We watched all the time; loved Conan and Andy. "In the year two thousaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand!"
Dave Draiman is an incredible singer.
I completely agree that it's best live. David Draiman's voice has an element that you FEEL when you hear it "live" (some of it also comes across on live recording but the best is truly live). You can feel the bass of his voice in your bones and it strikes a cord similar to a cat's purr in that it just makes you feel somehow better. He is a gift to us all.
I love so many different types of music… I am ALWAYS appreciative of Disturbed. 💜 The way David sings always resonates with my soul.
I do wish all people could and would (if given the chance) to take care of themselves when they are ill, but gods, to not have this performance in our lives is something I cannot begin to imagine. I'm sorry he was ill and I wish he could've taken care of himself, but gods...I'm so glad we have this.
I'm going to repeat myself here lol "The Sound Of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel 1966... have you ever heard the original? Simon highlighted Disturbed's version on his socials. Paul Simon heard Disturbed's cover of his Simon & Garfunkel classic "The Sound of Silence" - and he enjoyed it enough to reach out to singer David Draiman and tell him so. David doesn't use any autotune or elctronic voice trickes(which you probably know)... he hates them. He was trained to be a Cantor LoL.... His Range is insane.
I've watched and listened to this performance a lot and I well up every single time. David is amazing! And the he had 101 fever and sick that night and still killed it! Just a badass
Your reaction is classic 😊 This is one of the most powerful performances ever. Disturbed is the best show live that you will ever see!
The first time I heard this I was absolutely blown away by it.I had goosebumps all over my body.I was utterly speechless.I literally couldn’t form a coherent thought for a moment, and my first thought was Holy Shit! What did I just listen to!?!
Ok, now to hear the classic version by Simon and Garfunkel...my favorite is always the originals of these 60s 70s artists who wrote these songs i grew up with them performing then. Great music Anthony.
I love this performance so much!!! Thanks for the reaction! ☮️❤️😎
It's not that he was sick, but if you watch his interview on the Charismatic Voice you will find out that he was dealing with serious vocal chord injury. He was swinging around" ulceration on his vocal chords that were treated surgically soon after. Simply amazing.
Also, David had an issue with his vocal cords and was ordered not to perform on this day... Still gave a masterful performance
Man, am I glad you watched this version. Stunning was the only words I came up with when I watched it the first time. To this day it stops me in my tracks.
I love the way he does that song! I bought that album just for that song.
The first time I listened to this song I had the same reaction… pure silence and contemplation for a good few moments. So beautiful from beginning to end.
Revisit Inside the Fire but before you do or maybe even a little after research it. I used to find it simply poetic and badass but when you listen closer and know the context of why the song exists (as well as the Video) oh man ALL ABOARD THE FEELS TRIP!
He is an amazing vocalist. His range and the feeling he puts into it. I get chills every time I hear this one.
I was never a fan of the live version Performances. I watched this video This time with a real critical eye and an open mind. I now see what Others see. For me the video is like another member of the band. I like each 1But for different reasons So I don't concern myself with saying which Is the better performance Because live in studio or to different things. Not only David sick but I heard that the Producers of the show either Wanted to auto tune it or did auto tune it and David got very very upset. I also heard that this performance was up for a Grammy.
Would like to see you look at them doing "Land of Confusion ". It is a cover from Genesis, you should watch that video as well to see the different interpretation
Same here Anthony. I get chills every time I listen to him sing this song. I even listened to some of his other songs fecause of this. I'm not a metal but he is just an amazing vocalist.
David had, or was just getting over, the flu while performing this. Also, their best song is 'the greatest hit of Disturbed'.
IMO with the differing tones and power of his voice he gave it a completely different meaning than the recorded version.
David Draiman... can sing with a clear, beautiful tenor voice, A rich baritone if he chooses and an amazing chilling vocal fry with the ability to actually put vibrato on the fry!! I don't know another male vocalist that can do this. He's truly an amazing singer!!
Part of me wanted David to stand up and kick the chair away at the most intense part but I know he was under the weather during that performance. Their official video of this song is what got me hooked on reaction videos back when it was released. Another Disturbed track I love is The Light that is soooo powerful!
@northof4912

I also got hooked on reactions watching their official video! Then it led to The Hu, Wolf Totem, a few others then I saw this little reaction to a song called Ghost Love Score…. My music life has never been the same since….
Now you and BP need to check out Pentatonix - "Sound of silence". They are an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas. You will like them since you enjoy beatbox. Hallelujah is another good one then do.
His performance was tear jerkingly good.
I think that The Sounds of Silence is one of the best songs ever... Very important for our day. Having said that, both, the original, and this one brings me to tears every time I hear them. I like this one better than his studio version.
I love the timpani in this version! There is another great live performance with David singing a duet with Myles Kennedy. That one is my favorite. It has the power of the Disturbed version along with the great harmonies of the Simon and Garfunkel version. I doubt you'd want to do a reaction again, but it would be worth checking out on your own if you're interested. Here's the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/emd225Z9ity6frA.htmlsi=UZirxkcXV2SIsZQ5
Those timpani drums are badass. They really compliment and add power to David’s voice. Phenomenal performance.
I'm not sure if you've done Alice in Chains "Down in a Hole" or "Nutshell" the Unplugged versions, but Layne Staley was a generational voice.
@pfang32
7 ай бұрын
Best unplugged ever. Obvi nirvana had an epic set but the context for AIC is why it's tops. Last performance together, Layne needing a fix and seeing it take effect and sadly make him 'right' by the third song. Sad
I watched the reaction you did with Black pegasus, and I thought to myself that dang...there you missed something unique. Nice to see that you were curious enough to give this a chance.
This song is a whole ass journey and I'm always here for it. Unbelievable that he was so sick at the time.
I saw this live in concert & his staging was beyond real 🤘🏻 the sound the feel OMG will buy tickets every time 🤍🩶🖤
I find his live and recorded version very personal and I think it's an anthem that people have ignored for too long.
He also did a live version of this song as a duet with Miles Kennedy another great one to watch
Such an incredible performance! And David Draiman was very sick when he did this performance. Thanks for checking out this one as well! Also, if you haven't seen it, I would check out their song Reason to Fight. There is a live version that is absolutely stunning (official live video) ❤❤
I get the shivers from this every time I hear it, every single time.
Paul Simon, when he heard this song, sent David Draiman an email and said, that this song now belongs to him! It is the best performance and interpretation of this song.
@cookeymonster83
2 ай бұрын
FALSE. Paul Simon shared it on his social media but HE DID NOT tell Disturbed it's their song now. This is a MYTH circulating KZread, regurgitated by people who don't know how to Google. These people are conflating this song with 'Hurt' in which the original singer DID tell Johnny Cash that it's his song now. Let this myth die now.
That is one deep song & David's voice goes straight to the soul...❤
so beatiful amazing,disturbed vocalist powerful,,performance fenomenal,the best.magical i love voice 🥰🥰🤩🤩🤩😘😘
He was literally "Down With The Sickness." And to be able to sing while being sick and play it off and also to where you don't even know he is sick means that he has talent.
Hell of a singer 🔥
Goose bumps off the chain RIGHT!!
Emotionally gripping🤯🎶😱🔥 I believe Anthony you’re the same age as my son and we’ve recently been having some fun crossing our music genres. Been taking a deep dive into Linkin Park and Chris Cornell…Lord strike me dead if I’ve I ever told him to “turn down the music!” Would welcome some reactions…this one was fantastic!

I’m a 63yr old Aussie mum, who grew up seeing AC/DC live many times as a teenager with the great Bon Scott, and have always loved heavy rock, Sabbath, Zeppelin etc. My son as a teenager got into Rammstein and I just loved them. Never have I ever told him to turn down his music. It is now the other way around 😂. Have discovered Bad Omens (just bought the CD as I’m so old) and adore Falling in Reverse. We’re never too old to enjoy loud heavy rock! When I’m in the car by myself, it’s so loud that the windows rattle. Bliss!
Absolutely love Disturbed. "The Light" is my personal favorite, but there are so many great songs, I'll watch any Disturbed reaction ❤

There's so many great songs on that album, it's my second favorite to the original which I still think is their best. The Light is easily my second favorite behind Sound of Silence with You're Mine as third.
Looks like you are hitting most of the best rock vocalists - Disturbed, Scorpions, Guns and Roses, Lincoln Park etc. Would humbly recommend you check out Alter Bridge. The lead vocalist, Miles Kennedy, sang in Guns n Roses for their induction into the Rock Hall of Fame and is also part of Slash and the Conspirators. Alter Bridge features 3 member of Creed plus Miles Kennedy for lead vocals who is also an amazing guitarist. The song Blackbird won solo of the year from Guitar Magazine which featured Miles and Mark Tremonti (Mark won Guitar Soloist of the year 3 times) very under rated band. Please consider "Words Darker Than Their Wings" Live at The Royal Albert Hall or Blackbird live at Wembley. Hard to pick any bad or even average Alter Bridge songs... FYI many consider Blackbird one of the best rock songs ever written. As a combat VET with 8+ years in combat zones, Alter Bridge was my go-to to jack me up or mellow me out - their discography spans the spectrum and goes from 2004 to present. Respectfully - Tim.
some of the people working behind the scenes on The Conan Show that night said everyone dropped what they were doing and were just beyond the curtain listening because they knew magic was happening.
Does a long comment but I really hope people read the whole thing. I believe they quoted a fever of like 102. And you can hear a distortion because they insisted. Did they have phoning whatever I don't know what they're called. David did not want it. He fought it but they were worried because he was so sick. And the reason there's a distortion. It's because he didn't need it he was dead on that he could do it. I cannot say this enough about this man. Classically trained to become a kid cantor in the jewish Senecog from a very young age. Which is why if you've ever heard the call to prayer? It's the most beautiful haunting sound. And that's why he can go all over the place effortlessly. You don't have to believe me. There are videos out there of him being interviewed and this is that it is mouth.. I forget what performance in what song this is. But it's Add trivia to people's lost like Chester. He had a girlfriend commit suicide. There's a lot of drug abuse going on. He lost his grandfather and went back to his old ways then sobered up. Very important to put this out there. I know this is way too long and nobody's gonna Read the whole thing but you gotta watch that video. Behind him is a screen and on the screen. Is the people he's talking about end? He interviews people in the audience and they tell their story on the screen. It's mind-blowing. Just thinking about it makes me sad.. I know it is like to lose someone to suicide. And I know what it's like to have the tail with the aftermath with your kids. We are blessed to have someone like that. Who doesn't care and we'll put it out there and we'll cry. It will show emotion.
He was really sick that night and thought he might not even be able to perform. Epic professionalism on his part.
Yes! I was one of the people saying you should check out the live version.. Can't wait to see this. Lets go! Edit: Also he wad actually sick during this performance... Still murdered it tho... 🔥
He left you speechless. Me too. Going back to listen to Simon and Garfunkel's version. Their version never touch me like this did.
Thank you for doing this version AR I can't find the words to express how this makes me feel, chills, tears, it gets me everytime ❤
Totally epic!! And, totally epic reaction! Thank you.
Can't remember if youve done this one, and I know how much you love geoff castellucci, he also has a cover of this song😊 💜
This almost didn't happen. The singer was VERY ill but, like a champ, he mustered through!!!
SWEEEEEET Glad you watched the live version, BP and Joe E Sparks need to react to the live version too
Watched this dozens of times mind still blown 😳
Best reaction by far! like how mezmerized u where from the beginning is so authentic
We ❤ This One!! Even though David hates it 😅 he was really sick but nailed it!!!
alot of people dont know that David was a trained opera singer before he became a metal rock star!
I have the 33 album of Simon and Garfunkel. I dare anybody to even touch it!, but nothing compares to this version
So amazing. Really glad you visited this performance
one of the best live performances of anything ive ever seen
If you like powerful voices....you should check out Chris Maloney's "The Rose" and Jeff Gutt's rock version of "Hallelujah" auditions on X-Factor.
I like athe music video, and I like the Conan performance. They both have great stuff. But I LOVE those huge drums on Conan.

Speechless ……. Priceless ………..Legendary!!! Weak in the knees without laying one finger on me *sigh❤ in love love love the chicken skin this singer I serving me
I love The Light. I used to listen to that song every day first thing in the morning
Thank you Antonio! This version is incredible, emotional. Love from Italy ❤❤❤
The drummer is amazing......
The Light. Hold on to the Memories.
Those gorgeous, distinctive overtones are so much more prevalent in this version than the studio version. And when he adds that grit, it's just perfection. David's emotive ability is unparalleled, and that's why this cover is so iconic.
Every song from Disturb is fantastic. Any reaction you do would be awesome.
Paul Simon magnificent song writer. Disturbed does this song justice. For those of you who don't know, this is my opinion and the people bowed & prayed to the neon God they made?? Moses coming off of the mountain and finding them worshipping ball the bull, the devil. And? People talk all the time, but do you Li mean anymore if you ask me? Paul Simon was ahead of his time because kids nowadays don't even know how to talk to you. Great Scott, like they lost their voice. They'll set next to each other. Texting each other, which makes absolutely no sense to me. I'm an old lady. You know, we didn't even have when we did get one. You know, you only had that dial. 5 numbers and you were on a party line. Which might you have to share several households? You know, on your road. It just I think Paul Simon was ahead of is time. I think disturbed bitter Justice and I cry every time when he sings and the people bowed embraid to the neon God they made and the prophets, writings on the Subway walls and in tenement halls. So to me it's a wake up, call if people don't get that that's. My opinion thank you for doing this
Hard to believe isn’t it! Same song , same band BIG difference! I’ve been waiting for this. You said something about it on 40yolds (BP). Love and 😂❤
