Awe I’m glad Rebecca was ready for rehab! Before I got clean I would always “try” to get sober but still hung out with the same people. Once I learned that if I seriously wanted to get sober I had to cut everything and everyone out of sight and make a whole new life. Today I’m 3 1/2 years sober.

Recidivism is over 80% so most likely they get out, live for awhile then reoffend and come back. Only a few will escape the system once they are in it and you can usually tell who, here’s a hint, it’s not the drinkers, the drug addicts or the low iq tough guys. The 18 year old kid who “stole” his own phone back, he will be fine and most likely won’t come back any time soon.

Jail is no place to play around and act silly or disturbed. It's very humane, if you think that's inhumane then I encourage you to look into jails outside of the US and Canada. They are hotels compared to just about any other country. It's all about how you act, if you fck around then you will certainly find out.

It happened to me. I was homeless and having a psychiatric episode. I jumped off a bridge into the river and I survived. I decided to call for help but the police came instead and arrested me for being behind on my child support. They took my clothes away and gave me a moving blanket and put me in isolation. The judge dropped the charges because I was homeless and didn't have any income. But they wouldn't let me go until I said that I was no longer suicidal. I went to a psychiatric unit a couple of days later. I get disability now for being crazy. I paid off my child support out of my disability. But, yeah, some places do that. I spent 3 days huddled under a moving blanket in my underwear for the crime of being too crazy to support myself.

Ref. the inmate kid at 14:00 in. This is the reason why cops and their families are under attack. Often what one cop does to anger an inmate is taken out on another cop or their family who had nothing to do with it. I've never understood the vice of recreational drugs or excessive alcohol but I have friends who had trouble with both. Same with cigarettes. I'm glad that Rebecca wants to get help to stop. A lot of times though someone who wants help gets none because the need overshadows the services available or they aren't considered "bad enough" to need services, even where I live. I have a friend who isn't considered an "alcoholic" by society standards because she doesn't drink every day but when she does, she drinks herself under the table LITERALLY. Yet AA won't touch her because she's not "alcoholic enough". Luckily she's getting services in another form because most of this drinking she does is from having PTSD stemming from a mixture of childhood drama (her mother called (and still calls her) "defective" because she is on the spectrum (my friend is 54 now)) and almost losing her and her partner's business in the midst of COVID/scammer mix to a point that they had to make an emergency move across country during the pandemic.
@shannonrickard8605
3 ай бұрын
What do you mean by AA won't touch her? Anyone can go to AA, it's not something you have to be accepted into. Alcoholics/addicts come in all forms, and anyone that has a problem with alcohol and wants to change it can go to meetings. Heck, I'm not even an alcoholic, I'm an addict but my town only has NA once a week, so I go to AA meetings sometimes when I feel the need to go to a meeting, and I've never been turned away.

@shannonrickard8605 it's exactly as I said. She went, and they said they couldn't take her in for treatment. All I know is she's not getting the treatment she needs, and she's still drinking herself under the table every so often (most recent was 3 days ago).
