Then I went back and screen recorded the video and took it back and forth. And I’m pretty sure he didn’t throw it also. I laughed so hard on the first watch. If you're looking for ideas... re-create the shape of the whole ship, filling in the blank spaces with clear resin/perspex, then hang it with steel rope wire anchored into the perspex parts, so it can be hung "flying" - it would be like a 3d puzzle with missing pieces, and you'd be able to see both sides of the parts. (hopefully that makes sense)

Hi, museum/ art historian here: if you’re concerned with the pegs not being secure enough to hold the back piece of the Enterprise, try cutting a notch into the support pegs where the object will rest, with one side parallel to the end of the peg, and the slope of the notch pointing back towards the object. You can change the depth to suit, but this should help assuage your worries about it falling forward! What you guys did is very similar to how galleries and museums i’ve worked with handle delicate items with weird shapes! Love seeing you guys preserving these objects, have a great day!

My kid's autistic so it gets far worse than just colour, it's like "Oh this toy doesn't do everything the cartoon character does?" and so on... with just about everything we buy him so it gets frustrating when we're constantly trying to do something nice for him and he just picks on the bad points. But that's autism, you just have to deal with it.

In 1992, the props department at Paramount Studios built a disposable replica of the Enterprise D which was to be used in the demolition shot of that season's 18th episode. The ship was destroyed. The episode was a hit. The crew began working on the next episode. A custodian swept the pieces into a bin, and that was that. Or so we all thought....

I'm already thinking "boy I hope Red Letter Media's studio/warehouse/office/clubhouse never burns down" and then I notice the missing fire extinguisher behind Mike.

I used to work for Prop Store and recognize a few of these pieces, including the Enterprise D and the Baby Bink doll. Glad to know you picked em up! My guess with the resin nacelle tips as that they had the molds and thats a fast/cheap way to produce them.

I watch this episode a lot, and I laugh every time I see the explosion; the buzzard pops off, you can see the wires suspending it, you can see that its hollow. The fact that they kept this model is amazing, and the fact that I get to see it now in its present form fills me with so much glee. Thank you.

I can’t believe how strong they built the model to be blown up, it didn’t really explode as much as just violently twirl apart / around on its wires

This is probably my favorite video you guys have put out in years. It’s like top gear for movie nerds but w/ Mike and rich as hosts.

I kinda half expected them to do all that in depth discussion about how to display the model and then have the ending just be them blowing the display up. 😂

20:10 Mike and Rich speaking directly to my heart there regarding the Enterprise-D and I'm sure the hearts of many Trekkies out there. This ship was as much a character as any of the main cast members and it did feel like a second home to me.

Nice display guys, looks great. I recently built a replica of the 4' Enterprise D filming model using casts from the original moulds for The National Film & Sci-fi Museum here in the UK. Getting the hull colours as exact to the original as possible was EXTREMELY tough, it's way more blue and green that it looks on screen!

I like these vids where the boys are just talking about something. Like I love these guys so much I just wanna hear them talking about their hobbies, and interests lol. RLM thank you for giving us just a glimpse into your life

9:37 speaks to my soul. The absolute reverence that "This is an Enterprise." Abuse all the other props but this is like touching the Holy Grail.

My first thought was to 3D print the entire Enterprise-D at that scale, subtracting the parts you have, then attaching the parts to the 3D model, which would be matte black or some unassuming color. Kinda like what they do with dinosaur skeletons.

For a concept that could have gone REAL stale, REAL fast, Cause And Effect is written and directed to perfection. CLASSIC sci-fi.

I love the increase in releases. Thank you, everyone involved with Red Letter Media, for the earnest entertainment over the years. I feel like Half in the Bag is the best successor to Siskel and Ebert's At the Movies.

Damn, that prop is awesome. This is probably my favourite TNG episode. It was the first Time Loop story I'd ever soon and I have been hooked ever since. Commander Tomalak would have been proud to see you mount the Enterprise on your wall.

One addition I would suggest is a sheet of plexiglass or lexan mounted on posts directly above/in front of the model so that it can't be bumped into. This would also make it look more like a museum piece, reflecting the care you have for such an item.

If you guys want to contrive a reason to keep buying film memorabilia, I'm sure we would all enjoy a continuing series surrounding the arts and crafts of displaying the memorabilia, and background on how and why you bought it.

Nice to see Rich getting his monthly human interaction.

Poor Jay needs to leave the construction jobs to Rich, the man has built several Wheels of the Worst and a giant Plinketto board dammit! 😄

This kind of stuff is so cool. I teach college and one of my student’s dads worked on the American Godzilla (1998) movie and brought in one of the fish props from the movie. It was cool because it looked like it was meant to simply “read” as a fish from the paint, but the fins were stapled on, as if they just had a fish factory going at one point.

I can always tell when Mike writes the descriptions for the videos, he's got such a way with words

Mike's love for Star Trek actually made me respect this series alot more.

That's my favourite episode of Star Trek: TNG. I'm glad you guys ended up with the prop because you are real fans of the show. "All hands abandon Ship!! Repeat all hands.... "

I remember the first time I saw it. I think it was one of the first eps I saw, probably in the early 90s. I would have been 10 years old or so. I remember being captivated by the concept.

This was actually pretty interesting. And just reminded me how much I love the Galaxy class. Even before Rich said it, one of the words that came to mind was "home."

I was an hour into my shift when I saw this uploaded 11 hours later I'm finally home with a spliff and a beer to enjoy the emotional epic that is rich and Mike owning a destroyed enterprise D

More episodes like this everytim you get a prop, please! History, where it was used; any behind the scenes etc etc :))

I genuinely love watching you guys bringing us along with you on projects like this and the deep dive video into the Dick the Birthday Boy lore. And I'm glad you get to enjoy your memorabilia however the hell you want to.

p.s. actual Aerospace engineer here. Worked on: B-2 Bomber X-33 Space Shuttle successor (rip) F-22 Fighter. Here are the proper technical terms for the parts of your Enterprise: -longerons -empenage -bulkhead -hoobob -thingamabob -jigamabob -neck -struts -keel

One of the reasons RLM is a massive cut above most web producers, they actually need and EXTENSIVELY use their studio. Half of them buy a studio, then have no idea what to do with it. I think about the only other exception I can think of are the Viva La Dirt League people. Seriously I can think of so, so many examples someone bought a studio they didn't need and had no idea what to do with it.

One day I hope to visit the Red Letter Movie Prop Museum, bringing commerce and tourism to Wisconsin. Also the metal backing inside the model is to prevent the model from vaporizing. Fiberglass isn't plyable enough to withstand sudden explosions, so the metal backing would be there so it came apart in large pieces.

After watching a few videos I seem to have stumbled upon a channel that only focuses on quality content, good hosts, and great production. Subscribed! Now off to watch the back catalog.... I guess I could say it like this: Thank you for staying true to the fans.

I have a warm, fuzzy feeling in my heart knowing you guys have this and get to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.
