Forgot to mention under Model View you also get Anti Aliasing "XS_USE_ANTI_ALIASING_IN_DX" to me it just makes the model look blurry but you can give it a try. As well as "XS_USE_SMOOTH_LINES" which I have set to true for my model. Looks a little better. Either way I prefer the look of the model without directX rendering but not much I can do about that one at the moment

This could be a couple of things. If this is a model from someone else and it only shows lines when you open it you might not have the profiles in your catalouge. If it is visable when you model it in but disapears when you reopen the view or redraw view it might be outside your view area, try setting your view depth or resetting you view area.
